I would imagine Savoie is the more highly regarded prospect due to being a center and doing pretty well in the AHL stats wise last season. It seems like people respect that more than KHL production. They are probably more equal than that because it remains to be seen if either of their games will translate to the NHL and I don't expect Savoie to stay at center. I haven't gotten any sort of extended look at either outside of highlights so I'm not super qualified to say in my mind. I do feel that Buchelnikov has done really well at his age in the KHL so far, so I lean his way with my homer glasses on.

In my limited viewing of all the players in the AHL my hunch is that ASP is the only one who will have a chance to win a job out of camp based on where he's at. It isn't likely, but both Holl and Harmonic are easily buried in the minors if you need it. The signing to me says that the front office doesn't trust the AHL guys to be injury depth next season and that they want to compete. Whether it was a smart move is another story but I imagine that's the thinking.

Oh. Didn't see that coming. 1 year, like no money that can be buried in the AHL. Guess it doesn't hurt? Though I don't think he's very good at this point of his career. Hopefully it is just him and Holl battling for a spot and they both don't end up on the team (hopefully both in the AHL honestly)

I would be shocked too, but my post was what I would try not what I expect. I'm wary of Copp being 100% to start the season which is why I would hypothetically stick him on line 4 to start. I also don't think Copp has enough scoring chops to play first line winger, ideally he is my 3C in my mind but I want our young centers playing center personally.

I think if I were the coach and absent the info given in camp/preseason about who is playing well and gelling together, I think this is what I would try: Mazur - Larkin - Raymond DeBrincat - Kasper - Kane JVR - Danielson - Appleton Rasmussen/Soderblom - Copp - Compher/Tralmaks I'm a bit wary Copp is going to be fully ready to go to start the season though, and Mazur + Danielson will probably start in Grand Rapids. It would be my actual preference for one of MBN or Lombardi having an unreal camp to steal that first line LW spot.
