  1. That's a lot to give up for Monahan, good for the Canadiens with how they were able to use Monahan to acquire a bunch of assets
  2. As someone who doesn't care about the all star game I fully concur
  3. Agree with LS, plus Husso gave them some good starts it wasn't like he was a total disaster over his entire tenure. I still think it was a worthy gamble.
  4. I would be more than fine parking someone in the press box or AHL for Edvinsson, but I doubt the Wings would ever do it from a player relation standpoint. We'll see how these after all star break injuries shake out...
  5. https://www.shapshotshockey.com/p/on-moritz-seider-advanced-stats-usage?utm_source=post-email-title&publication_id=1111135&post_id=141271617&utm_campaign=email-post-title&isFreemail=true&r=nkg8z&utm_medium=email This is a fantastic read on Seider and his usage
  6. I have to imagine if the Wings wanted to negotiate and have a deal in place for an extension the trade would have been even more expensive, I just don't see the Wings in a place to make the move either way myself. Adding more Center depth would be nice but I hope they can upgrade Petry or Maata here...
  7. I feel like Veleno has been more than fine this season as the lowest paid player on the team, I'd like to keep him around until he gets paid a bit more. That's a lot to give up for a rental 2C in Lindholm. Probably a no thanks from me for an equivalent deal with the Wings if there is not an extension in place. Kuzmenko is still a really good piece in the trade even if he's "underachieving" right now, 95 points in 124 NHL games so far in his career. He just didn't seem to fit with Rick Tochett. I think the Flames did well here, it is going to take a lot more of those kind of moves to get out of their roster hell though.
  8. A lot to give up for a rental, lets see how it turns out...It is going to be interesting to see how the Canucks manage the contracts they're going to have to start giving out
  9. It is kind of nuts how much they are putting on Seider's shoulders this year, but I guess it is hard to trust others...
  10. I only made my guess because they're the only two goalies under contract next season unless they call someone up or sign someone else honestly. Unless Lyon completely falls on his face I think he's earned at least another look. Husso I'm hoping it was a combo of our bad defense this season + injury stuff because he's been bad. I think he had a shutout in his only AHL conditioning action though....
  11. In my amateur opinion I can't see them bringing Cossa to the NHL until he has the starting gig in the AHL for a half season or more. But stranger things have happened, I'm just guessing he'll be the full time AHL starter next season before getting some NHL action the following season. A lot of it hinges on how he finishes the rest of this season I guess.
  12. I'm guessing next year's tandem will be Lyon and Husso
  13. I've been kinda down on the Dylan James pick, you don't see him doing much in college and I haven't really heard anything about him after being a second round pick. But after reading some scouting reports from people who have watched UND apparently he is a really good PKer and forechecker with great speed. So it sounds like there is something to work with there at least. Hopefully we get some skilled guys coming out of these picks but you can't be mad getting any NHL work out of them. Seemed like Edvinsson was trying to let the little guy chill but when he didn't Simon had had enough, pretty hilarious. Apparently his dad is a cop and Simon trains mma off ice. Showed off good balance there! Griffins were down big early and pulled Hutchinson in that game, Cossa came in and saved the day! The Griffins were wearing Flying Toasters jerseys:
  14. A Libor Sulak sighting too! I thought this was a good graph created by someone at hfboards, Cossa has been solid lately with some bad games mixed in. But it looks like he's improving.
  15. Also got his power button booped behind his ear and his legs gave out, Kostin got his ass kicked because he got tied up outside of his reach but Deslauriers could still hit him. Nice to see Kostin step up at least, a couple of the Flyers were running around looking to start ****.
  16. Wings rolling over the Flyers, Rasmussen just put in a lot of work to set up Copp for a short handed goal
  17. He is, this is probably roster / money management especially with the call up of Rafferty. He's already eligible to come off IR with the retroactive designation. LOL. Decent AHL 28 year old, 3 NHL games with the Canucks a few seasons back. I think the Wings have called him up before but he only sat in the press box (nice for his paycheck at least). I'm guessing he's in the press box for insurance if someone else on defense gets hurt (I think Chiarot is out until after the ASB). No sense in sitting someone like Edvinsson (who is also out hurt already anyways) or Johannson in the press box most likely.
  18. Honestly I am not sure if I agree with that, seems pretty in line with other deals in the NHL: https://www.capfriendly.com/comparables/ben-chiarot-11564 I feel like he has been pretty solid this season, though not without some bonehead mistakes. Outside of the Seider / Walman pair it looks like he's been playing the toughest minutes and highest d-zone starts on the team. I doubt the Wings are looking to move him but I bet they could get someone to take him somehow.
  19. I definitely thought those trade rumors came out of nowhere over the offseason, felt weird. Another strike against the Flyers' brass in my eyes... the way they went on the offensive trashing Gauthier after the trade was truly something. "He just doesn't want to be a Flyer and won't talk to us!" How about you delaying his signing/going pro, sending him back to college after he clearly wanted to sign, over a measly overage bonus going into this season?! And it also comes out that Gauthier told them privately after that he didn't want to play in Philly. What else does the kid owe you?? It was so weird all the interviews they did right after, I don't blame Gauthier for wanting to get out of there.
  20. Whoa I didn't see their press release I had no idea. That's grimy if he is involved...
  21. Kasper also missed off season training and some training camp with A BROKEN KNEE CAP. I'm not sure why people expected him to be tearing up the AHL right away.
  22. Well 5 team canada players have been told to present themselves to the police in London, Ontario. Formenton just took a leave of absence from his Swiss team (the fact he's stuck playing in Europe is not a good coincidence for him), and Foote and McLeod just took leaves from the Devils. So we may have our five...
