So within the last 24 hours both Dillon Dube and Carter Hart have taken indefinite leaves of absence from their respective teams. Normally it would just be a weird coincidence, but it gets weirder when you realize they're both from the Team Canada juniors team investigated for gang rape. A few other players from the team seem to have gone dark on social media as well recently. Could be nothing but something could be dropping here...

Maybe it is just me, but if I were Williams I would have refused and I would be embarrassed if my only rushing touchdown on the season came from when my team faked a victory formation. Like....how do you feel good about that?

He may think he has a better shot elsewhere or he may not enjoy it in the Wings' system or want to play in Detroit for whatever reason. He might see all the other lefty D in the Wings' pipeline and see it as an uphill climb. The Wings have lost a couple prospects recently this way.

I have a feeling Buium isn't going to sign with the Wings for some reason. Nothing to back it up just my gut. I thought his little brother looked good in the little I saw of him at the WJC, draft him and maybe he stays lol. Trey Augustine looked fantastic from the game I saw. A really, really poised goaltender that looked like he was playing against kids younger than him. His rebound control looked great. I'm really excited to see how he develops. I did think ASP's passes in his own zone seemed a little sloppy. He moved the puck well on the PP of course.

I found a random stream on youtube, Augustine looks reallllly good from what I've seen. The goal he gave up was a really nice tip, not much of a chance on it.

FWIW I didn't take that as a whinefest, some people just don't see any value in taking a goalie in the first round which I can sort of understand as it is more risky than any other position. I feel like I'm somewhere in the middle of the pack on goalies in the first round, wary but open to it. I was shocked at the Cossa pick (I have to come clean and say I wanted Wallstedt) but Wallstedt did go five picks after Cossa so if you wanted either of those guys you had to use a first rounder. But I also definitely get why Yzerman did what he did with Cossa, you can't teach his athletic gifts. Plus the Vasilevsky pick really helped push the Lightning franchise forward previously.

Ryan Whitney and Chiclets have really been pumping ASP's tires this World Juniors, calling him the next Swedish defensive super star. The kid just has such a nice release on his shot....gives me Rafalski vibes.

Right now I'm holding onto the Cossa lottery ticket and letting him develop. I don't think he would command a ton of value on the trade market right now because his development is so up in the air. I am not saying he's a bad prospect but I don't see him being able to fetch a NHL ready player that would be worth it. I could definitely be wrong, I'm sure there are GM's that still see former first round pick + physical traits and are intrigued.
