  1. I think I was wrong on Cossa's waiver exemption, he may have missed it by like a month since he turned 19 before the end of the year he was drafted, wow. Hopefully I was right but I don't think I was based on digging into it more. People seemed very confused by it so when I went to look at the rules again I noticed the "waiver age" clause: If a player turns 18 between Jan. 1 and Sept. 15 in the entry-draft calendar year preceding the first season of the player’s entry-level contract, they are considered 18. If a player turns 19 before Dec. 31 in the entry-draft calendar year preceding the first season of the player’s entry-level contract, they are considered 19. November 21st birthday. Sheesh.
  2. Ya this would be along the lines of what I was thinking. If you look at Askarov and Cossa's AHL stats they are eerily similar.....down to both not having great playoff stats though Askarov has twice the games. Cossa's value is most likely a little less than Askarov just purely from the standpoint that Askarov was a better prospect and had slightly better playoff stats .906 vs .893 save percentages.
  3. With how things have been going in the AHL I imagine we see ASP in Grand Rapids next season and Wallinder + Anton Johansson being more likely to make the NHL MBN is having a great playoffs right now too, if he can translate his improvement over this season to the NHL next season that would be great
  4. Oh my god I was just coming to post that, I'm laughing so hard
  5. I honestly can't get my head around this Chayka hire for the Leafs. He must be very cheap and be quite a salesperson because he was absolutely awful in Arizona. It also seems like most of the league hates his guts. Steve Simmons is a moron too but this was hilarious:
  6. I have to imagine the Wings are trying to move one of their top 3 goalie prospects this offseason for immediate help. Guimond, Pradel and Gylander all showed some promise last season too I thought. It is a bit insane the goalie prospect depth they've built up, hope they can weaponize it.
  7. He can go to the AHL next season without passing through waivers, goalies get their ELC plus one year before they lose their exempt status. His ELC slid two seasons so right now he's in the third year of it.
  8. There’s the Wallstedt glove hand I saw in the AHL!
  9. Leon having 7 more years left on his contract will make that a bit tougher for him but stranger things have happened. I expect McDavid to bolt after the next two seasons, especially if Bowman is still in charge
  10. Hard to argue with Postava getting the start last night in a 1-0 loss, he's had a great season. Only a year older than Cossa, hard to be mad about adding another promising goalie for free. You'd think between these two and Augustine one has to hit....
  11. Fascinating to read the Jim Nill is going to have some tough decisions to make thought pieces already coming out after the Stars fall short yet again. GMing seems hard!
  12. Holland did some good in Edmonton, the Hyman and Ekholm acquisitions were good and the RNH deal is great. Unfortunately things like the Campbell and Nurse contracts also happened. To a lesser extent things like Kassian's extension and the Athanasiou trade too.
  13. Oh man I forgot about the Trent Frederic contract ol rapist protector Stan handed out until I got to reddit: Trent Frederic stats for Year 1 of his 8 year extension: 74GP 4G 3A 7P -15+/- with 0 points and 2 healthy scratches in the playoffs Another fun thing: Jack Campbells buyout cap hit goes up next season. They're paying Jarry and Campbell a combined $8 million next season! And they're stuck with Jarry for two more years because of that trade! Absolutely amazing work
  14. Stan Bowman sucks, I'm not sure how anyone would have thought that goalie trade was a good idea.
  15. 1. He's an asshole. I actually went to high school with him and he's been disliked since then. He likes to talk like he was misunderstood and bullied in high school, but he was actually just a **** who thought he was better than everyone else. Most guys on the baseball team just stayed away from him (honestly I think he self-segregated). 2. He's not that good anymore. He had like a 4.45 ERA in Japan. It feels like he greatly benefited from the sticky stuff and now is just another guy 3. His legal baggage, no matter how you feel about it, will bring negative attention to your club. Plus it isn't just a question of rough sex, it is a question of consent so it isn't like it's just kink shaming. That is going to attract a lot of negative feelings. But I think 2 is the most important, teams will put up with 1 and 3 as long as you're exceptional.
  16. Kasper hasn't been medically cleared to play for Austria at Worlds, apparently he's been on crutches since the season ended with a knee injury https://hockey-news.info/nhl-export-kasper-ich-muss-im-moment-mit-kruecken-gehen/ (austrian link) I figured something was up but I wonder how long he was pushing through that
  17. Didn't watch the full game but DID see a replay where Mantha did a beautiful forecheck and made a nice pass to Soderblom who buried it. Nice to see them wake up a bit, Pitt needed that.
  18. Brady “built for the playoffs” Tkachuk 😂😂😂
  19. At work sometimes we get stuff related to the season we're currently working on, usually sweatshirts and a mug or something. Late last year a coworker who is in office (I work remote) reached out saying there was something there for me. He was going to bring it to our holiday party, but I couldn't go to the party in the end because I couldn't find a dog sitter. I messaged the guy and said I appreciate him offering to bring it to the party, I didn't want him to have to worry about it anymore so he could just stash it somewhere in the office or even give/throw it away. No response. Early this week I get an email from him saying he'll mail the stuff to me and I can pay him back. Random, I apologize that he's had the stuff for so long especially since I forgot about it. I just say sure mail it. Package showed up yesterday, I let him know I got it so let me know how to pay him. He sends me his venmo and says it was $17. I have the box in front of me and it clearly says the shipping was $11.32 lmao. I didn't say anything to the guy and just sent $17 but I'm highly annoyed at the whole situation over stuff I didn't even want! Why even send it for $11, I clearly wasn't itching to get this just send it as cheap as possible! Hell send an office PA to my house it has been done before! I feel like I just bought him a drink doing a favor I didn't want and it's annoying me on a Friday!
  20. I hope the young goalie talk is just keeping his cards close to his chest. I don't blame him if so, you don't want to appear needy to trade if you want to try to unload one so you get as close to fair value as possible. And theoretically you could motivate all of them to train hard and play hard in training camp to make the team by saying it isn't even guaranteed one will make the NHL team. But deep down I can't imagine a scenario where it doesn't make sense to have Cossa (or hell Postava if you want to go purely results based merit) play as a backup in the NHL next season outside of his head falls off during these playoffs or something disastrous.
  21. Looks to me like Mantha is playing himself out of any sort of big payday his regular season might have got him. I caught him looking bad on defense for another Flyers goal tonight, dude just has no feel for the defensive zone. Left the offensive zone before his team had the puck again, which led to him eventually losing his point assignment who scored. With zero points so far he's been a huge negative for the Pens. Soderblom is a healthy scratch too.
  22. No idea but I hope his nickname is Doctor or something similar for the time it took
  23. You're all going to feel silly when Brady Cleveland makes the team and beats up the entire league
