Didn't seem like people minded a separate thread so here we are! Yesterday Buchelnikov played on SKA's second line in the KHL and scored his first goal:

I feel like Seider really spoiled Wings fans regarding other defense prospects. Edvinsson looks to me like a kid who is still processing the NHL speed and with the smaller ice surface. He's trying to make the Wings a year younger than Seider did. Did he make mistakes? Definitely. But he also showed really nice instincts in his own zone at times and has the toolbox to make the plays. I was loving what I was seeing even if it wasn't perfect. Some time in the AHL should do him wonders but I feel like expectations are way too high or people are being way too harsh on him.

I haven't been glued to the game with work going still, but it seems like Edvinsson is making some good plays out there. I've liked what I've seen from him and Elmer. edit: he had a giveaway in the neutral zone like right after I posted this of course, got it out of the zone at least...

I didn't realize Soderblom's brother was in net for the Hawks. 1-1, Soderblom put a nice shot on and Erne put in a rebound

Guessing that was a goal that Cossa hasn't had many WHL players score on him, coming in at speed and putting it over his shoulder on the backhand. Hopefully he learns going down and relying on his height won't work in every situation, I think he looked pretty good otherwise.

I'll quit spamming but at first intermission, I thought Zadina did some great things but also did a lot of the stuff he usually does that makes you smack your head. Ugh. Highest point was definitely the Kubalik one timer on the power play, I didn't realize his shot was that heavy. Soderblom is fun to watch so far, he's still learning what moves he can and can't make against NHLers I think. I would say both he and Zadina of all people probably took the body the hardest in period one. Elmer legit just has to put his entire body into checks and it looks pretty gnarly though. If anyone was on the fence about watching this I would say...skip it. I think the Penguins will eventually run away with this and it is a Penguins radio feed (they routinely call the Wings by the wrong names so it is very disorienting) announcing using the Jumbotron feed for video so replays play over live stuff sometimes. Not the best but hey I'm happy to watch some hockey lol. 1-1 after 1.

Random question, would we want a separate Prospect thread in addition to a regular season thread this season? Just keep posting prospect highlights in the same regular season thread? I don't want to annoy people with my prospect stuff but also don't want to clutter up the forum with multiple threads if no one cares.

Figured with Preseason starting tonight it was time to start a thread to talk about the games/happenings. 7 pm tonight, I think it is supposed to be broadcast on both the Wings and Penguins websites? Penguins are playing a ton of their regulars so could be ugly.
