Lalonde it is

I don't know if I would want to bring PLD into Detroit's rebuilding situation. Pouted his way out of Columbus and now wants out of Winnipeg (or just to test free agency?). He seems solid (top tier 2C?) but the vibe he gives off I don't love. They weren't great situations in Columbus and Winnipeg (Torts and then having to live in Winnipeg/rumors their leadership is kinda meh) so it could just be that, but I'm not sure he would see Detroit as any better. I would be afraid he'd just bolt for free agency like he told the Jets. The Rangers are supposedly interested in him and I've seen Kaako + first round pick floated as a potential trade, also Chytil's name has been showing up and he just had a hot playoffs. Seems risky if that's about the price. If you could get PLD signed to an extension or something like that before then I would probably pay a prospect and a first for him, they need the C help. Though I would hate to part with say Edvinsson and I feel like that's what it would be for the prospect. Guess it is a good thing I don't do this for a living I can't decide.

100% agree it seems like an odd move for Halpern if he's going to be an assistant again but maybe him and Lalonde have something worked out where he will have more duties etc? Also with the Wings I don't trust any leaks so...

Weekes now hinting that Lalonde AND Halpern could come to Detroit with Blashill going to Tampa to be an assistant for his good buddy Cooper.

Now Weekes is saying Lalonde is in Detroit right now, that one makes more sense to me...

There's a chance DMac actually has some information but I also think the Wings would realize he would probably let it slip? Of the Tampa assistants he was my less desired of the two I don't believe he has a ton of experience coaching but I also don't know him too well.

From the little I saw of Cossa's team before they were eliminated I'm quite confused how his team was so dominant. Their defense especially seemed pretty awful, I hope the Wings can get Cossa to the AHL or something like that I'd rather him develop around guys who won't stand by themselves on a penalty kill while the other team passes around for easy goals.

This feels about right looking at past trades for top picks, doesn't happen too often. I would say maybe a future second round pick instead of this year's but I think the next draft is supposed to be pretty good... I mostly made my post wondering if that was something that Yzerman would consider, I'm fascinated with how he operates since we get so little info. That's all. I think the most likely scenario is they stay put as they usually have with their first pick. But I would love to know if he would even entertain the idea.

Interesting, wonder if there is any temptation to try to trade to 2 if Wright doesn't go 1. Zetterberg shoulda made it in over the Sedins more I think about it, seems like they're getting the nod because they're twins.

Love Seider and drafting him hopefully is the big turning point for the franchise when looking back. Glad he won, he definitely deserved it.

The Athletic's newest mock between Pronman and an anonymous front office person gave the Wings Kemell and Matyas Sapovaliv, C, Saginaw-OHL for their first two picks. The centers gone before Kemell were Wright, Cooley, Gauthier and Kasper which I found surprising so I am not sure how much stock to put into it.

Seems like an odd choice to me with where they are at with their franchise. They must think they are closer to competing than I do. I would rather Torts not come in and squeeze extra wins out of mediocre players to kill my draft picks a bit, let alone clashing with any younger players if he isn't going to be the coach for the upswing. But maybe this is the time that Torts doesn't wear out his welcome?

For sure, he hadn't played against very high competition before the prospect tournament last season and I was really impressed with how he's looked. If he can stay healthy at his size they might be able to drag a bottom six winger out of his skillset. Got my hands on the Hockey News draft kit through a media buddy, looking forward to digging into it. Just their top rankings:

Think he's tied to the Philly job I haven't seen anything with the Wings. Yzerman doesn't really leak so who knows what is going on.
