  1. OT for the Rags and Pens after a goal was called off for New York
  2. I think Buddha has it right with an Eichel package and more. Top prospect (Krebs), younger established player (Tuch), first round pick, and a second round pick for Eichel and a third. I'm not sure teams would pay that sort of price but who knows since it is hard to find centers. I wouldn't expect Larkin to be traded ever though.
  3. My hope is that he would be his own coach as the head boss and adapt what he's learned from his defensive-minded bosses and apply that to fit what the Wings need. But I do agree I wouldn't want to play like the Islanders.
  4. I am going to shamelessly steal from Bultman's article on candidates for the people who jumped out at me: Fedorov and Larionov would be nice sentimental picks but I'm not sure if they have the resumes for the job yet even compared to the other "inexperienced" coaches here
  5. Give me the Frolunda coach or Lane Lambert. I'm not personally interested in the same names that get cycled through bad teams year after year. Especially Tortorella, please dear god no. He would probably play Vrana 6 minutes a night and trash him in the media after every game. The young coaches in college also intrigue me, I would hope they would be more flexible than Blashill was with his shitty systems. Yzerman's last coach hire was Jon Cooper (now the longest tenured coach in the NHL) who had never coached in the NHL before getting the gig in Tampa. I hope he goes this route with the Wings.
  6. If you can get a strong trade package for him I would do it. I am not sure the Wings will be competing in his "prime" and as he loses his speed with age I'm not sure how effective he'll be making top money. I don't talk about this much because I don't think it is a popular take but I also have questions on whether or not he's that great of a leader/captain for the Wings. He seems to do a great job of getting guys together outside of the rink and welcoming people to the team, but on the ice he seems to lose his temper very easily and I am not sure how much blame he should get vs say Blashill for the team looking unprepared and disinterested for stretches across his time with the C. He does a great job of looking annoyed postgame and talking about how they didn't play hard enough but I'd love to see him actually motivate the guys to do so (if even possible). It isn't a huge concern for me by any stretch but also probably a big part of why I would be fine trading him away.
  7. It is hilarious to see him stickhandle through men and still look like a giant. Our old friend Vili Saarijärvi was trying to defend him there, man he sucks.
  8. Was it ever revealed what they would have traded to Edmonton for Wayne? https://detroithockeynow.com/2022/04/27/draper-red-wings-will-make-johansson-decision-seasons-end/ I've been pretty high on Johansson for a while here so I am getting excited to potentially see him in North America soon. Between him and Wallinder making significant strides this season we may be moving towards a competent defense in a few seasons.
  9. I think the Griffins got eliminated from playoff contention, it would be cool for Berggren to get a few games here with the Wings
  10. Edvinsson signed his ELC!
  11. Surely he's just the best shooter in the league! Goals looked nice via twitter
  12. I have to rely on ESPN+ out here in California sadly! Appreciate the heads up though
  13. Zadina done for the season with an illness apparently
  14. Hmmm I don't think I can watch this since it is NHL Network? Dumb
  15. Sebastian Cossa (Edmonton Oil Kings): A first-round pick of the Detroit Red Wings in the 2021 NHL Draft, Cossa finished third among WHL goaltenders in wins (33), shutouts (six) and goals-against average (2.28) during the 2021-22 Regular Season. The 6-foot-6, 215-pound product of Fort McMurray, Alta. made 46 appearances for the Central Division Champion Oil Kings, suffering just nine regulation defeats. The 19-year-old has a career 71-16-4-3 record in 98 regular season WHL games, all with Edmonton, to go along with a 2.12 goals-against average, .921 save percentage and 14 shutouts. https://whl.ca/article/whl-names-division-nominees-for-del-wilson-memorial-trophy
  16. I hunted this down to one of his mailbags I think it was, agreed with Max's take that Elmer is going to be a better offensive player but Ras will contribute in a lot of other ways. I still find it odd that he says Rasmussen is faster than Elmer. Elmer has better edge work for sure, but I feel like he's also deceptively fast with his size. I thought that showed up a bit yesterday in the little Frolunda I saw. Rasmussen skates around like a Frankenstein monster to me so it is weird my take is so different from Bultman's...but I imagine he knows a lot more than me!
  17. RIP Guy. I'm not sure what Bultman is watching with Soderblom's skating versus Rasmussen but I have to vehemently disagree with his take.
  18. Seider is back on the ice phew oddly enough Sundqvist got kicked out and a 5 minute major for a slash on the hands which is the first time I've ever seen that? Crosby straight up slashed someone's finger tip off once and the league didn't even give him a minor penalty so I'm shocked but okay with this.
  19. Seider took a headshot, now he's not on the bench to start the third. Really concerned about this. I hope this is just being over cautious but he looked kinda woozy getting up.
  20. I scared my dog yelling "COME ON!" when he dropped it back to no one!
  21. I was kinda shocked Ras didn't hold up more going into Bob there, I can see why Gudas did what he did. Though I'm also confused how it was evened up on those penalties haha. Panthers are running away with this now I think...
  22. He looked fairly quick in the limited time I watched...I'm hoping there's a way to watch this on espn+ as a vod so I can rewatch the non-jumpy parts
