  1. I think that it could eventually, but indications are that we aren't there yet. Unforunately, we'll probably end up with another review system which will slow the game down after the refreshing speed up this year.
  2. I don't have a problem with people who understand what's going on requesting a wall in stategic areas as part of the effort to manage immigration. What's stupid is the MAGA idea of a big wall solving all immigration programs.
  3. I think immigration is mostly a good thing. We have always had immigration and it has helped us grow as a country. Short term, they do jobs that Americans don't want to do. Long-term, they bring new perspectives and innovation. In the long-term, Immigrant groups also tend to be healthier than native born Americans (Both Blacks and Whites). There is also no evidence that they commit more crimes than native born Americans. My only concern is logistics. There needs to be a limit to how many new people are coming here at the same time because it is difficult to accomodate large numbers of people getting settled even if they may be valuable long term. It is something that needs to be dealt with continuously, but it is not on the top of my list of big issues. Also, the wall is stupid and costly and will likely accomplish very little.
  4. I agree he'll be first ballot. I don't like the way his career ended, but he has great career numbers and he is being widely glorified.
  5. Right, I don't really get the exclusion of games. I think their overall record is indicative of what they are - an improved team which still has holes.
  6. He seems to be able to deflect that like Ortiz and steroid use. Most Tigers fans consider him a likeable guy and kind of forget about the off-season incidents. I don't get the feeling he is viewed as a bad guy nationally either. It seems like he and his wife were equally responsible for the dometic abuse. It's not like he went home and beat the crap out of her. It sounded like she did much of the damage. It definitely seemed like he had serious drinking problem though.
  7. 74-74 excluding all the games against tough opponents at the beginning of the season.
  8. I honestly don't think people like her are any more ridiculous than Trump.
  9. He could possibly be worse than his father. He's the dumb version of his father.
  10. Yes, He was expected to carry some really bad teams and he took the brunt of the criticism for their ineptitude.
  11. Tony Clark also hit 30 homers three times, but none of them came when it counted.
  12. Sands had good numbers last year, but he was 26 at the time and last year was an outlier. I don't know what other information they might have had.
  13. Right, and I doubt Holton will get any higher than this. Of course, if he did he did stay at this level he'd be really valuable especially if he was used in more high leverage situations, but chances are he won't be this good on a regular basis.
  14. Hinch doesn't manage well at the beginning of months... I agree that kind of selective exclusion of games doesn't mean anything. However, I think in comparing this team to 2021 when they had a similar season in terms of wins and losses, this year was more encouraging. There was a lot of luck in 2021. This year, I believe it was real progress.
  15. At this point I think it comes down to Baddoo versus a bunch of other guys for the 26th spot.
  16. You can't pencil Baddoo in the line-up or even on the roster next year. It's a matter as to whether they want to keep him in the organization to see if there is any development left after being rushed to the majors. Meadows has a great glove. Whether or not he will hit over a full season is still in question. Baddoo looked like hitter like a potential power speed guy at one point too. Meadows needs to be given a full-seasin trial though.
  17. Early indications are that Greenberg is a better communicator than Harris. That's probably not important as far as management competence, but maybe they should let him do most of the talking.
  18. They really messed up the second amemdment. It should be loaded with qualifiers.
  19. Is there any chance Holton is converted to a starter? If he is a career reliever, he may have just had his best season. They don't have to deal him, but they should shop him and she what offers they get. Statcast numbers are much less predictive for pitchers than hitters. His stuff metrics (a little more predictive than statcast metrics) are less impressive.
  20. It depends on his contract status. He has options remaining, but may start to get too expensive. I think Edman said he was on the fence for arbitration. Personally, I hope stays in the organization for another year. He was rushed to the majors, but he does have some tools
  21. Cabrera's first 9 years in Detroit: .325/.405/.573 51 war Cabrera's last 7 years in Detroit: .261/.328/.379 0 war
