  1. We should not allow people into the country illegally, but not everybody who enters the country illegally is a bad person.
  2. Can we say he was a bad person?
  3. Who hired them?
  4. Even $6 for a dozen eggs is a bargain. Where else can you get 4 meals for $6?
  5. OK, so clarify yourself.
  6. But you said that he would probably ask for an opt out in order to sign with Detroit which implies that Boston would not have to offer an opt out.
  7. My impressions of his presidency were not good at the time, but I was too young to care. I was impressed by what he did after his presidency. Almost every other President either did nothing of consequence or used his past presidency to enrich himself.
  8. Several years ago Jimmy Carter came to give a talk at Brandeis University where I work. Students were prepared to protest something he supposedly did to or said about Jewish people. However, he delivered such a brilliant speech and answered questions so skillfully that students seemed to forget what they were protesting. He won everyone over. That's what politicians do! But he was smart too. Much like Bert at the baseball game decades ago, I had to pee the whole time, but I still enjoyed it.
  9. Why? My impression is that escape clauses are requested, so that they can leave for a better contract if they do well. I would think he'd want that from both teams.
  10. They were terrible, but they had some great stories like Leflore and Hiller. Leflore was also my favorite from that era.
  11. Why Detroit, but not Boston? I understand he might prefer Boston because he'll probably hit better there and he might think they'll have a better chance to win. If that is what he wants though, why consider Detroit at all? If he only signs with Detroit for the money, why would he leave that contract for less money?
  12. Why would he need an escape clause for Detroit, but not Boston? If he doesn't hit in Detroit, he's not going to opt out because he'd be better off staying with the contract. He would only opt out if he hit well and thought he could get a better contract.
  13. Thank you. So, if some team wanted to make a bid for Sasaki, they would have to move money around BEFORE signing him and then they might not get him. So, I would say that he is worth that risk, but only if they are pretty confident they'll sign him.
  14. Another legendary player has passed away. https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=7613330848743283 https://www.mlb.com/video/randle-blows-ball-foul-c31267713
  15. Why don't you tell us how it works. I think this is an area which a lot of us don't understand a lot about. I understand that teams can only spend so much on international players, but I don't know the details. Are the Tigers currently in a position which puts thm at a disadvantage compared to oher teams? What kind of prospects would they have to lose in order to get Sasaki?
  16. I don't expect the Tigers to get him, but he sounds like a smart guy. He is apparently giving teams "homework assignments" to learn about how they think. I don't think he'll necessarily go for only the glamour teams, but there are a lot of smart teams now and they'll all have slick presentations, so the Tigers probably won't be able differentiate themselves from other teams very easily. I think the only heavily pursued player they might get is Bregman.
  17. Harris said they are preparing to meet with him. Or maybe he meant they were making a pitch to get a chance to meet him. Once good thing is that he looking for a team that is very good at developing pitchers.
  18. I never could tell the difference between Chuck Seelbach and Bill Slayback.
  19. According to Wikipedia "Mr Sutherland is survived by his older bother Darrell who also sucked" https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/s/sutheda01.shtml
  20. His keystone partner Tom Veryzer was not much better (-3.7 career WAR).
  21. Kim is also a strong fielder, although his health makes him a question mark. Having Torres at second, Jung/Vierling at third and Keith playing a new position wouldn't give me a lot of confidence in their infield defense.
  22. Transgender athletes competing in womens sports is sometimes a safety issue which is a valid reason to address it. However, transgender people don't participate in womens sports because they are unhappy with the size of their dicks. Males generally choose to become transgender because they actually feel as if they are females in every aspect of their lives, not just sports This makes their lives very difficult as they are typically ostracized by society. Transgender people suffer more from their gender indentity confusion than people who are uncomfortable with transgender.
  23. I don't remember Del ever saying anything about immigrants before and he rarely mentions politics. I was thinking it just struck him as a horrendous act.
  24. He did talk to Cabrera and Cabrera asked "Who the **** is Gleyber Torres?" But Petzold had a deadline to meet, so he went with it.
  25. I assume they are more knowledgeable, but they have a vested interest in either pumping up their propspects or holding back information.
