  1. Wow, the Tigers finally have a line-up with multiple hitters who I look forward to seeing bat. How many years has it been?
  2. I don't either love him or hate him. When he first signed, I wasn't really excited, but I felt he was a big upgrade over what they had. After seeing him, I still don't like him but I don't hate him as much as others do because of his defense.
  3. I assume Meadows will be playing regularly, at least platooning versus right handers. There is no sense bringing him up for a part time role.
  4. It's pretty hard to play defense with your eyes closed. You want him on your side if a brawl breaks out though.
  5. very insiteful first post. Welcome to the bored!
  6. I was generalizing. It doesn't necessarily apply specifically to Vierling.
  7. I don't know if that's the reason for his offense going down, but I do think multi-position guys can be prone to struggling defensively and perhaps even offensively from having having so much to think about. It's good to have a player like that on the team, but I don't know if like the trend of having multiple multi guys!
  8. The only problem with Malloy being a DH is that he limits the versatility on a team that relies on versatility. That was part of the problem with Cabrera being a DH. He was taking up a roster spot making it harder for Hinch to mix and match. Now, if Malloy hits like Edgar Martinez, then you deal with it! But, if he's just a decent hitter, he's going to need a position which he can play part of the time.
  9. He needs the OBP. 30 hrs would be nice, but a first baseman with a .330 OBP and below average defense isn't enough. It would be below average (unless we are talking 40+ homers)
  10. Julio Rodriguez last four games: 4 for 6 5 for 5 4 for 5 4 for 5 Most hits in four games in modern baseball history.
  11. That sounds right to me. middling=moderate or average in size, amount, or rank.
  12. No, His defense is still good at a premium position. There are far worse regulars than Baez. Jurickson Profar is one example.
  13. He'd probably be worth that if he got back to his '19 and '21 performance, but there probably isn't enough time left this season to find out.
  14. yeah, the injuries explain his poor numbers the last couple of seasons. So, there is some hope for him.
  15. We were wondering which catcher the Tigers were going to get in the off-season. They got him already! I was thinking the other day that the Tigers might get him when Arizone DFA him, but I lost interest when I saw his recent numbers. Kelly was good in '19 and '21, but has not done anything since then. He is younger that Haase and probably has a better chance of lucking into a decent offensive season next year.
  16. Roster crunches are not something I ever worry about. They usually work themselves out through failures amd injuries. If not, then you've got a good situation.
  17. It would be nice if held it through the end of the season.
  18. I read that one of the reasons they might not make the change to robot umps is that people in the game want to keep framing part of the game. The human element!
