  1. "Hes naked" is trending on twitter. There is a 50/50 chance it involves Trump. Not opening!
  2. Trump would have not called him regardless of party. He would have tweeted something like: "I disagreed with him on everything and he was very bad for this country and he never thanked for everything I did. I wish him well."
  3. That is a title the Tigers can win.
  4. My mother froze while walking one day and has not walked since. They thought it was a stroke, but found no indication of it. They then said it was demential related which priobably means they don't know what happened. I believe it was a mini stroke.
  5. That was eery. I don't want to see that happen to anyone.
  6. When I was a kid, we had no internet. I had to wait until Friday to get all the stats in The Sporting News.
  7. SIERA is more predictive than FIP and presumably XERA and XWOBA. I remember there was criticism of it when it first came out, the main one being that the formula is so complicated that it is difficult to separate the different elements when you want to closely examine the results for a given pitcher. Someone at Baseball Prospectus outright rejected it on that basis, but then later BP developed the DRA statistic which is way more complex.
  8. Yeah, that would be my guess. The decision to use him was probably made before the game.
  9. FIP is more predictive than ERA. I always thought there should be a FIP-like stat that included hits because pitchers do have more control over hits than originally theorized. xERA and xWOBA add quality of contact to the equation. It seems they aren't more predictive that FIP, but they might be for some pitchers. I'd like to see more analysis on that.
  10. Poor White Sox. Lynn will pitch like Cy Young the rest of the way and the Pale Hose will get nothing.
  11. Mistakes were made behind him, but he was also hit hard. He wasn't as sharp as he has been in other games.
  12. They did take the vaccine, but the vaccine was designed by Fauci and Gates to harm Republicans.
  13. I turned it on at 6:46, saw a commercial and thought it was a quick first inning for Rodriguez. Unfortunately, no.
  14. Not a good start. Hopefully, he doesn't kick us in the nuts tonight.
  15. Very few trade rumor predictions come true. It's the nature of the beast. His prediction here is pretty general though and seems plausible.
  16. Wow, what a night! I had one of the most memorable nights of my baseball fandom just watching TV. It must have been amazing to actually be there. The beginning of summer vacation enhances everything. I had just finished 8th grade and 8th grade sucked, so I'm sure that added to it.
  17. So, are the Tigers going to finally get a break?
  18. The one area where Biden hurts himself is his weakened speaking skills which came with age. For someone whose job involves a lot of communication, he really has a difficult time communicating and I am not talking about the out of context "dementia clips" posts by conservatives.
  19. While, I don't think all 8 fielders need to be plus defenders, the highlighed portion is a good reason for emphasizing defense. You can't win 90 games with just fielding, but you can win with pitching and defense enhances that. Playing in Comerica Park with strong defense, they can have great run prevention without elite pitchers.
  20. Obama would absolutely dominate both the Democratic primaries and the general election.
  21. That may be true, but I think it applies more in the short term than the long term. When building for the future, I favor position players over pitchers. If you are all in to win right now, then it's a different story. I do want the Tigers to try to be competitive next year, but they are still at the point where any major move would need to help them more in 3 years than right now.
  22. Glancing back at at the attendance figures, it seems as if the attendance was somewhat elevated in his games leading up to the Yankees game, but the Yankee game was the first game where they had a capacity or close to capacity crowd. After that game, it just took off. I had not seen him pitch prior to that other than a spring training game versus the Red Sox when nobody knew who he was. I remember my father saying at the time that he reminded him of Bill Lee. They just didn't televise a lot of games then, so seeing the Tigers on the Monday or Saturday game of the week was a big deal. So, I was excited about the game because I got to see the Tigers and I wanted to see Fidrych because he was pitching so well. I had read that he was flaky and likeable, but I was absolutely stunned by the excitement he created that night. I had never seen anything like it.
