  1. Yup, I have long felt that fielding was underrated, especially in a park with a big outfield.
  2. I believe Benetti had something else scheduled. We will see Dickerson on TV a number of times throughout the year.
  3. It sounds like today was a good day to boycott extra innings!
  4. I still don't watch extra inning games because it's not real baseball. It's not a protest. I'm just not interested in watching that. Maybe if they are in a pennant race some day, I'll force myself to watch that fraud. Anyway, one game this season, I was working with the game in the background and I lost track of the inning. All of the sudden there was a man on second base and I got pissed at the pitcher. It think it was Lange. Not sure.
  5. Bob Horner would be a decent outcome for Torkelson. I'll take a 127 career OPS. Sluggers are usually streaky, but all their production counts the same in the end.
  6. That's what I saw too. They are usually up to date, but not as good as they used to be.
  7. Justin Verlander gives a great answer to the pitcher injury question here:
  8. Even Cliff Floyd likes it.
  9. As someone who grew up with a Greek Orthodox father and Catholic mother, I always got the impression that Orthodox was the #1 Christian religion. The Catholics were not quite as solid, but a close second. The Protestants were a distant third, They tried hard, but their religion was too shallow. 😄
  10. I haven't tried it yet, but I am sure I would do better if it was 40 years back!
  11. I am not expecting SS cuts for me, but I am also not counting on getting full SS. I still say it's a fabricated crisis easily and logically fixed by dropping the cap.
  12. And even if you can handle it, if you are obtaining it illegally, you face the danger of unwittingly acquiring a lethal dose of Fentanyl.
  13. So, Joey Wince will play the role of the reliever who people keep telling me is good even though he isn't. Or maybe he'll figure it out as a reliever?
  14. I would guess, the decision was made largely on what they've seen from him in the past in real MLB games.
  15. He got a ****load of doubles. You can't flip your bat for a double though.
  16. It's easier to teach someone how to act that to react! The problem with pitchers is once you getting them working, they break!
  17. Another reason why it makes sense for the Tigers to focus on pitching in a pitching friendly park is that their management and staff appear to be able to get the most out of pitcing talent. This has not yet been demonstrated with their hitters, at least not at the MLB level.
  18. If he's still in their rotation by August, thst would be a big story. Either that or the Rays totally fail this year.
  19. Tyler Alexander starting for a projected playoff team is actually pretty interesting. Of course, starting for the Rays is not always the same as starting for a normal team.
  20. It should be true, but it isn't. Also, a lot of people take it illegally for pain if they can get it. Also, not a good idea.
  21. AL Playoff teams and number of wins Baltimore 90 Toronto 88 Tampa Bay 87 Minnesota 85 Seattle 90 Houston 88 NL Playoff teams Atlanta 99 Philadelphia 86 St. Louis 87 Los Angeles 100 Giants 86 Padres 86 Tigers Pitching staff from top to bottom will be one of the strongest in the game - 6th fewest runs allowed. Offense will be as bad as the pitching is good. Final record 82-80, second place Post-season tournament Total crapshoot, but I'll play along and say Atlanta over Baltimore.
  22. Meadows also allows them to move Greene to a corner which gives them plus defense at two positions out there. If Meadows can make decent contact against MLB pitchers in the regular season, he'll be quite an asset.
  23. It has really only significantly suppressed home runs significantly in recent years. For years, it was close to neutral. I am not sure what happened. Maybe other parks changed dimensions for more offense or maybe the live ball carries better in other parks or something. I remember Harris said that he liked the unusual dimensions because he felt it potentially gave them an advantage with the right players. I am more interested in seeing what he can do with that than bringing in the fences more. It is something they have not really tried since they moved to Comerica.
  24. Of course he will. He always does. We have no justice system. We have a legal system designed to protect the wealthy.
