  1. I tried to listen to the Tigers TV broadcast tonight. I could not handle it.
  2. They showed the replay of Vierling's slide. Pretty slick.
  3. Every time something NEW comes up, it just takes attention away from his previous transgressions. He's been doing that his whole life and it works.
  4. The true poster boy is Steve Blass. He went from 2nd in Cy voting in 1972 to an 8.5 BB9 rate in 1973. He had the same problem as Rick Ankiel, but the drop was even more extreme.
  5. Yes, in the first two weeks before his injury.
  6. It's miles ahead of politicians too and scientists tend to be more honest (who isn't more honest than a politician?). Of course, the politicians in the federal agencies can deliberately misinterpret the science which many people confuse as scientists lying.
  7. He's streaky but he's clutch. He always seems to get a hit when they need it the most. 😃
  8. That is a remarkable streak. If we assume they have a 35% chance of winning any game and they play 90 consecutive three-game series, there would be a < 2% chance that they never sweep a series.
  9. For me, it was: He was the best player on the team in 2020-2021 His career OPS+ was .723 which is around league average He was still under 30 None of that guaranteed a comeback, but there seemed to be a good chance he'd be at least an average player at his position which you couldn't say about every position on the team. I'm not surprised at what he's doing this year.
  10. I think Malloy will be in the outfield most days. They need to have him learn a position before resorting to a DH role.
  11. Incaviglia was perfect for that kind of thing. He had been doing it his whole life and he knew how to do it right. Phillips was crazy, wanted to leave Prince in the locker over night. Incaviglia told him: "This is just for fun. You can't do that. I know we did that to Scott Livingstone but Prince is just a kid."
  12. For now, I am thinking more along the lines of a Jo Adell type player (I don't know if it's him, specifically). If Harris is the genius he is purported to be, he should be able to identify break out candidates which he can acquire relatively cheaply. That's what we need to find out about him.
  13. I haven't really been to restaurants since 2020. I used to go to restaurants sometimes on the way home from work, but now I work at home most of the time.
  14. Well, they can't acquire free agents now! They could trade prospects for young players already in the majors now, but it would need to somebody that can help them the next couple of years as well. I don't know who is available.
  15. Too early. Let's see what they have for pitchers by the end of the year and then add Mize next year.
  16. I don't want to see another five-year re-build where they lose 95+ games every year. I was never on board with that. You always want to be reasonably competitive because you never know when you might sneak into the race in a given year...like this year. Trades and free agents should both be on the table.
  17. They will have to do that anyway, but they should still try to be competitive in the weak AL central.
  18. Martinez is no joke joke this year - 6th in the majors in slugging. Of course, you don't want to get stuck with a multi-year deal for a 37 year old.
  19. On the other hand, he hasn't had a .700 OPS since 2018.
  20. Camargo? He's not much, but he can play third and has a decent track record: .723 OPS in over 1,300 major league plate appearances.
  21. Inge would be one of their best position players on this team.
