  1. The Tesla vandals should be punished for what they are doing. They should get the same punishment anybody who committed a similar crime would get. However, they should not be punished more severely because the owner of the company is super wealthy and politically connected (to put it lightly). That would be far worse for our country than the crimes themselves.
  2. yeah, I understand what it means. It just seems like an odd phrase.
  3. "Championship season" seems like odd wording.
  4. Don't worry. Somebody will get injured by then!
  5. They will probably be most of their roster decisions this weekend as they are leaving Florida after tomorrow's game.
  6. Trump has taken over Columbia University. He was going to take away 400 million in funding if they did not agree to letting The Party dictate not only discipline, but also curriculum and admissions. They apparently caved. Scary stuff. https://www.publicnotice.co/p/trump-columbia-univeristy-letter-takeover Not surprisingly, this had nothing to do with anti-semitism. It is a personal vendetta Trump has against Columbia:
  7. Stavenhagen just said that Jobe will open the season in the rotation, Maeda to the bullpen, Montero to Toledo.
  8. Never make jokes about Hinch when Chas is around. 😃
  9. That's part of it. I also think teams value versatility more than they did 10 years ago.
  10. I think they'll keep both. Hinch loves guys than can play all over the place. I doubt he'll have two DHs on the roster.
  11. I think there is a large group of people that think conservativism is manly and tough and it doesn't go much beyond that for them.
  12. I don't think Ibanez is in "huge danger". I expect him to make the team. Tork and Malloy are mostly DHs. I don't see them carrying both.
  13. As a dark skinned Greek who has been mistaken for an arab on more than one occasion, I am always a bit wary in travelling. Now, it will be worse.
  14. More like the roil family.
  15. Based on suspicion or hope?
  16. One of the more interesting things is that first year voters were overwhelmingly in favor of Trump.
  17. 6,7 and 8 matter a lot too.
  18. That's because the stink of Trump was on everyone's minds due to Covid. That is an example of non-voters getting desperate for a change. Without Covid, I believe Trump would have won in 2020. Unfortunately, grandpa Joe put them to sleep again the next four years.
  19. Or 4th spot assuming they will be looking for ways to limit Jobe's innings.
  20. Yes, the Democrats do need to win votes. They don't need to beg. They need better candidates that know how to reach voters. I think people in this forum underestimate the number of people that don't see voting as a responsibility. A lot of people think politics is stupid and just doesn't matter to their lives. It was not obvous to a lot of people that anything big was at stake and it still isn't obvious to them. If people thought the same way about Trump that most of us do, they would have voted. They just don't see it though.
  21. The problem is there are lot of people that really are unaffected and there is no desperation. My two nephews don't vote and are not gettig any rights taken away since they are straight white American males working in the private sector. Both tell me that politics is stupid and a waste of time. They also both know that Trump is a joke, but they just don't care. I don't know if the wife of one of nephews voted. At one point, she sad she wasn't voting because Biden was too old an senile and she felt sorry for him. If she did eventually vote, it was for Harris. My niece didn't vote because she knows nothing about politics. She thinks Trump is nasty. I think she can be reached.
  22. The Catholic Church refused to recognize the marraige. My mother's Catholic family was so upset about the wedding that most of them refused to attend. It was as controversial as an interracial marraige at the time. So, the wedding took place at the Greek church. Hearing that story as a young adult was one of the things that really turned me off on organized religon.
  23. The vibe I got growing up in a Catholic/Greek Orthodox family (a very controversial mix at the time) is that Protestants were not real Christians. My parents never actually said that and they were not dogmatic in their views. It's just the feeling I got from hearing them talk about religion. When I got older, I found out that Protestats thought they had the real religion!
  24. It could. I went most of my life with the feeling that government had no effect on me whatsoever. I only paid attention because I am curious person and wanted to be aware of what was going on, but I really didn't care that much. I can understand why someone who is not curious would be turned off by politics which doesn't affect them. I would expect more people to care if someone took away their rights away, but they would still have to be convinced that there was a voting option which actually cared about them. I don't think that has happened for a while.
