  1. Fauci is in Washington today for a closed door congressional interview. I guess they figured out that getting owned by Fauci in public is not a good look.
  2. Danny Bautista
  3. I would say a third of the country doesn't give a crap about politics one way or the other. You won't get them to vote because you think Trump is going to end democracy and become the supreme leader of a White Christian Nationalist country. They will just laugh at you. If they vote at all, it's going to based on something concrete like the country shutting down because of an epidemic and the president responding like a moron. Hopefully, that doesn't happen in 2024!
  4. That wouldn't affect SP rank on fangraphs. I am pretty sure their ranks are based on based on projected innings, strikeouts, walks, homers and possibly hard hit balls rather than runs allowed. So, if a reliever doesn't get his job done, then that would be on him rather than the starter.
  5. I can easily see it happening. Trump doesn't need any additional votes. He just needs people who voted for Biden in 2020 to lose interest and just not vote.
  6. Gil Hodges died of a heart attack age 47. I remember having a baseball card of him and thinking how old he looked as a manager.
  7. Given how abruptly that video was cut, it makes it seem like he was taken out of context. And no I don't want to hear the rest of it. Just hearing his voice for five secends makes me ill and he most likely said something dumber ten seconds further into his speech.
  8. I actually don't have any reason to think that Musk is a pedophile. I pretty much assume Trump has done some horrific things to young women. I am pretty sure he bought all ther beauty pageants to gain access to and power over beautiful young women and that's just the earliest indicator. MAGAs always claim that he disassociated himself from Epstein when he found out about what he was doing to underaged women. It's more likely that he is dissociated because Epstein got caught and he doesn't want the same to happen to him. Bill Clinton is another one who I think would have no qualms about having sex with underaged women as long as he isn't caught.
  9. Trump has said so many terrible things about so many people that he is fair game. Plus, he has been connected to Epstein as much as anyone. He had connections to Epstein before it became uncool to have connections to Epstein. He was also been accused of rape by a 13-year old girl. Musk also has connections to Epstein. I don't know if that is the case with Kimmell since I don't follow him at all.
  10. Conservatives are pretty consistent. They feel it's OK to joke about any topic in anyway. Freedom of speech... unless the joke is about guns, The Bible, the American flag or cops.
  11. Probably not, but it doesn't affect their starting pitching staff rank.
  12. They basically have every Tigers pitcher with a .500 W/L record, so I wouldn't put much stock in it. W/L record is pretty meaningless with pitchers throwing 5-6 innings per start anyway.
  13. Someone accused Jay Jaffe of being a pedophile who raped little boys because he didn't vote for curt schilling on his HoF ballot. I guess everyone who doesn't agree with conservative dickbags is a pedophile now. It's the new communist.
  14. Just looked up the New Hampshire property taxes and it's more than I thought. But still, no state income tax, no sales tax, cheaper homes and lower cost of living. For most people, it's cheaper to live in NH. Not sure it's nicer though unless you love the outdoors.
  15. It adds up to 162 starts without Boyd, so I assume he's not included in the team totals.
  16. I would guess that they included more than five as all the innings pitched would have to add up to a full season and that's noy going to happen with five starters. The Tigers depth probably helped them in the projections as it should for real.
  17. I use projections as a baseline. I will adjust players up or down if I think a player is ready to break out or if I think the projection is are not accounting for an injury. The other big thing is playing time. Fans who follow their team closely are probably better at guessing playing time than the projections.
  18. Projections do not favor players who are past their primes. They are appropriately harsh in projecting older and injury prone players. For example, the FanGraphs projections have Kershaw pitching only 91 innings next year. It is fair to say that they are tough on young unproven players. On the other hand, most unproven players never prove themselves. Because of the variation in possible results, teams depending on a lot of young players are tough to project. The weakness of projections is that they don't do a great job projecting players who are difficult to project!
  19. How can you doubt heartland? They have also rejected climate change and the harmful effects of second hand smoke.
  20. Isn't that the way they do it these days?
  21. I think every part will have a lot of variation year to year. I think you need a three year rolling average to get any kind of meaningful time trend here. Statcast does have an option where you can do that and it smooths it out quite a bit. https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/leaderboard/statcast-venue?venueId=2394&condition=All&rolling=1&batSide=All&tracking=All&speed=95 plus&angle=FB-angle&wowyBatSide=All
  22. I see more of a time trend than a team talent trend: 2000-2006 bad for home runs 2007-2017 neutral for home runs 2018-2023 bad for home runs. This makes more sense to me, I could see slight alterations to ballparks, balls or backgrounds changing trends over time.
  23. It could be a lot of players. Most guys who put up good numbers in the minors don't succeed in the majors. Minor league numbers tell you who won't make it, but do not necessarily tell you who will make it.
