  1. Whether or not trading Flaherty is "tanking" depends on how far they are behind in the wildcard race at the deadline and how much they get for him.
  2. I am speaking in general.
  3. I don't want to see them "tank" again. It's a poor strategy, especially with the new draft order rules. It's not good for the game and it's not the surefire way back to contention some fans think it is. It means a few years of automatic losing with no guarantee of success. I'd rather they try to be a .500 team now and try to improve incrementally from there. Some may disagree, but I like this year's .500 team a lot better than the 95 and 100 loss-teams of the recent pass.
  4. Like others have mentioned here, all the platooning is good for offense, but it probably hurts the defense to have guys trying to play multiple positions. I don't know how much is gained offensively versus lost defensively.
  5. One good thing is that he has still been able to draw walks. He can't bat .158 though!
  6. 40 years ago today on Monday Night Baseball:
  7. I get some of the criticism of his forced humor, but Benetti is still the best TV broadcaster the Tigers have had in a really long time.
  8. I did not see this before I posted. You beat me to it.
  9. Colt Keith article by David Laurila: https://blogs.fangraphs.com/for-colt-keith-confidence-is-the-key-to-future-success/
  10. Only the important stuff.
  11. The question is whether harrassment and threats to players has increased since the promotion of gambling in sports.
  12. So, maybe they should pick a position for him and not move him around.
  13. What you say here is true, but I don't think it is relevant to the question of Harris's ability to identify to identify hitting talent versus other GMs.
  14. The majority of gamblers can place a bet now and then and it doesn't affect their lives in a negative way. However, a not insignificant percentage of gamblers are addicts. They start losing money and they can't stop and it gets out of control. They become desperate and angry and it should be no surprise that they would start lashing out at the people they perceive as causing them to lose money.
  15. That is a possibility. It also seems like a good way to raise suspicion if done consistently
  16. I think it was inevitable this would start happening. It was incredibly stupid and hypocritical for baseball to get involved with gambling organizations. As long as they make a profit, I guess it's cool though.
  17. It's incredible that they all lost badly. That sounds like spin from MLB.
  18. OK, I see that he won 4.3% of his bets. That's still pretty bad
  19. The most unbelievable part of this story is that he lost all 25 bets? How does that happen? There is a .000003 probability of that happeing. The only way I can see that happeing is if he was being paid off to throw games and his payments were nullified because he was injured which would make this a bigger story.
  20. I expect him to win and it sucks. I still don't think he is smart enough or organized enough to do the damage people think. The scarier part to me is how many Americans actually would like to see him to do these scary things and how stupid they are to actually believe anything he says.
  21. I don't know how anybody could possibly watch Dump and think that he cares about about anybody other than himself.
  22. What I am concerned about is whether these guys can hit in MLB and all prospects are unproven. To expand on my my original comment. It appears that Harris is able to identify pitchers that other teams don't value so much and the Tigers were able get useful MLB production out of them. There is no such evidence with hitters so far. It's great that the Tigers have some good hitting prospects on the horizon, but I don't think listing out their top prospects really addresses my comment.
  23. Continued high rates are bad news for investors (both big and small) and people trying to buy a house or another major purchase. I am not sure why unchanged rates would be bad for the average worker though. The problem for the average worker is inflation. The catch 22 is that inflaton might not go away as long as we have continued economic growth and high employment. Then again, most people would rather pay high prices than be unemployed, so it's hard to root for that.
  24. If you don't want to hear opinions, then don't post anything online.
  25. Malloy, Lee, McGonigle and Clark have done nothing in the majors so far, so we can't that he found value in them when others didn't. Canha was already good before he came to the Tigers. The only one you could maybe say that Harris identified as a good player when others didn't value him as much is Vierling.
