  1. I played APBA as a kid. I tried to complete the full 1973 for every team, keeping box scores of each game and aggregating stats by hand. After a few years, I made it to early September. I have thought many times about finishing the season but have never gotten around to it. I still have the game and the stats in my cellar. I did finish the 1970 NFL season which of course was a lot fewer games than a full MLB season.
  2. Nothing wrong with a tie. It's better than putting free runners on base.
  3. Finally a relevant post by Smuggles. I mean we all know he's 100% guilty of countless crimes, but he's too wealthy and powerful to be arrested
  4. I would bet that wins and losses mean a lot to players
  5. I wasn't realy joking. Cabrera was a legend for 9 years which was a lot of fun. He's been an old out of shape replacement level DH for 6 years which is frustrating.
  6. True, which is why Cabrera does block players. I'd rather see Meadows/Carpenter get the DH at bats and have an extra outfielder for roster flexibility.
  7. They wouldn't be different, but their lives would be easier.
  8. Show some respect. He needs complete his 7-year farewell tour. He's earned it.
  9. Has Baddoo been given a million chances? He was brought to the majors way too soon because he had to be on the roster as a rule 5 pick. He did quite well in 2021. Last year, he struggled. I'd say he's still a good prospect. If it weren't for his Rule 5 status, he probably would be debuting this year.
  10. I agree, but I don't think red hats want to be like elites either (other than having money).
  11. Like 80% of the teams in baseball! But it's better than being in the bottom 20%!
  12. Fidrych was one of a kind. There will never be another one like him. He was a unique individual, but part of what made him special is that nobody knew who he was until he started pitching in Detroit. Today, we would have analyzed him from the day he was drafted. We would have known everything about him and placed him on various prospect lists. When was in Detroit, we would haved worried about his low K rate and worried about him getting hurt with the high innings pitched totals. Nobody cared about that stuff back then. Who knows what social media would be saying about him? The Bird phenomenon just wouldn't be the same today. I am so glad we were able to experience it when we did.
  13. Do people who make fun of the red hats do it because they want to be like them?
  14. I really don't think they want to be part of the elites or even want to be accepted by them. I believe they want nothing to do with them. For better or for worse, they want to be left alone.
  15. I know he has to be on the team because that is just the way it is, but he does block people by limiting roster flexibility. They have a lot of role players who will be in various platoons and match-ups and having an extra player that can play in the field would help.
  16. Yeah, I think he knows baseball more than he is given credit for here, but I get the feeling he gets mean when he drinks. There was an another former poster who was like that. In his case, he was a very bright guy most of the time, but was very nasty and vindictive when he started drinking. He left the board pretty suddenly after one of his rages.
  17. I don't think they would. It would make him look like a loser. Just being a regular guy them him is not enough. His appeal is wrapped up in the idea that he is a successful businessman who runs the country like a business and owns the career politician libs.
  18. There is one thing...If they found out that he is not really wealthy.
  19. You are not a martyr if appearing to be a martyr is your only goal. That just makes You a martyr ******.
  20. He is also very transparent which is part of why it's maddening.
  21. You can use any ******* word you want as long as you use it with ******* respect.
  22. He's had a bad Spring and not enough of a track record top get away with it. I think he'll start the season in AAA.
  23. Yes, his exit velocity and hard hit ball rate were good and the speed has always been there. So, there seems to be some potential. It's also interesting that his barrel rate was low. That all suggests that he hit a lot of low line drives.
  24. Artificial intelligence depicting Trump's arrest:
  25. There is always a chance! So far, he hasn't hit RHP well in a small sample. I can't find minor league splits, but there is nothing in his minor league statistical profile that suggests he'll put up good numbers. I know he has elite speed, but that doesn't go very far these days. Is there something you've seen/heard?
