    It is interesting. The assumption seems to be that Maton is a front runner for the majority at bats as a third baseman. They are both primarily middle infielders though and it's possible they think Maton at 2B and Schoop at 3B is their best defensive alignment. Or maybe they are just looking to increase Schoop's versatility.

    Yes, 50 homers was rare back then and ,like Fidrych, Fielder seemingly came out of nowhere. That was a really fun season.

    Is this the Stormy Daniels case? Most people don't care about that. His followers are probably proud that he banged a pornstar and was able to pay for it. As long as she's not trans, they are fine with it. I want to see him get nailed for money laundering or something lke that.

    Wentz hasn't been that great this Spring either. He's been better than Manning, but not by enough to replace him.

    Not expecting anything from a prospect is not the same thing as eliminating him from consideration. I don't expect anything from most of the Tigers prospects, but that doesn't mean I have written them off. I don't expect anything from Brieske or Wentz either, but I still think they have chance to be decent. I am just not counting on them.

    I agree that the new administration has nothing to do with it. I have chosen to think positively about the new admin for a couple of years, but realistically they are still largely an unknown.

    For what it's worth, he made some top 100 lists.

    How about we put him in the same bucket as all the other pitching prospects? He was unproven and now he's hurt and won't pitch all year. He may come back, but I think it's fair to say he is not a top pitching prospect in baseball at the moment.

    They haven't mentioned surgery. He may just go the rehab route which I think is common for lumbar issues...unless the rehab does not work.

    The spine is related to everything though. I am not sure what kind of success pitchers have coming back from this. I guess we'll just have to be patient with Jobe.

    There's also the new pickoff rule. I am also skeptical about the Spring increase, but baseball has always been a game of inches. Sometimes small changes can have big effects.
