  1. I just want to know what Lynn Henning thinks about the new dimensions.
  2. Offensively, they are pretty much the same. Defensively, I don't really trust one over the other, but it's not true that B-Ref does not update their defensive stats. They take their defensive stats from the Fielding Bible which regularly updates their methods. Since I use stats more for evaluation of past performance than for prediction, I like B-Ref better for pitching. If one is going to attempt to project pitching, you are right that f-WAR is better. However, pitching is so unpredictable that it's hard to say how meaningful that exercise would be. Even the projection expets like Szymborski can't do it well. I have given up on B-Pro. They don't provide anything I need that I can't find on B-Ref and FanGraphs and the latter two are easier to use. Plus, B-Pro charges money to read articles about new advancements and I have reached my limit on subscriptions for which I am willing to pay.
  3. Another thing is he rated a little better at Baseball-reference on both base running and fielding. His r-WAR was 7.2 and 5.4. Throughout his career, he looks like a better player on B-Ref than FG mostly because they disagree on his fielding, often by a lot. So, which one do you believe?
  4. If he signed with the Tigers and continued to put up 5-6 WAR, I'd be OK if he didn't want to be there.
  5. If that happens to me, I won't be saying Ouch!
  6. Six years is very reasonable for Correa. That goes to age 35. That's a lot better than being potentially stuck with him until 40.
  7. With Trump, it's a 100% guarantee that he was selling or planning to sell the documents, because that's what his life has been about for over 40 years. He also disgraced himself and the country by trying to overturn an election and inspiring a riot. That disqualifies him from ever getting the benefit of the doubt again. You can both sides some things, but Trump is way beyond that now.
  8. Adduci recommended him to the Tigers. He needs him in Toledo.
  9. Not so dangerous now that almost everybody is on the "same side". Even those on the other side seem to do it reluctantly.
  10. Benke is on twitter too still proposing trades and free agent signings. Yooper is on Twitter. He is running for some kind of local office.
  11. I miss the days of platoons. A 26-man roster and 13-pitcher limit might bring back some of that flexibility.
  12. Defense is is a team effort, so it makes sense to have set positions, I don't buy the idea that relievers need to have set roles or that batting orders need to stay the same. I think that's more ego than anything else.
  13. I hope bullpen roles are antiquated, because I don't think they are necessary and I never bought the idea that every reliever needed a set role in order to maximize his talent. I don't know that positions are antiquated though. Hinch uses a lot of different line-ups, but I think some of that is due to lack of talent. It's good to mix and match, but I think ideally, you still want either a primary player or a platoon at each position which is used most days.
  14. I think that would be the whitest team the Tigers have had in a long time.
  15. It's not an exciting deal, but I would rather have three position players over an inconsistent reliever. I also like that Harris continues to acquire players than draw walks while dumping players who don't. He's appears to be targeting the opposite profile of players versus what Avila targeted. Vierling apparently has tremendous speed as well.
  16. They weren't going get anything overly exciting for Soto, but Maton and Vierling should make the roster and they are more exciting than Reyes and the Castros. Maton might be their starting 3B. Sands probably won't make the roster but he is more than just minor league depth.
  17. OOOH, I was out hiking all day and didn't realize they made a trade.
  18. He's not getting mocked for it. It's the right thing to do, but it's funny.
  19. It is a clear difference. Whether or not it's a meaningful one remains to be seen.
