  1. Two walks for Victor Reyes tonight. That is something you don't see every day or any day.
  2. Having Verlander and Scherzer together all these years would have been so much fun. It's hard to be be a bad team with two aces, but even if they were bad some years, it still would have been fun.
  3. I have no idea whether Daniels would be a good fit, but Dombrowski was about the same age as Daniels when he became GM of the Tigers.
  4. Players always get praised for performing well under the pressure of a pennant race, but I've always thought it would be tougher to get yourself up for games when you play for a lousy team.
  5. Swanson would be good, although his two best years were fueled by high BABIPs. James Dansby Swanson might be a tough sign for the northern Tigers - born and raised in Georgia, College in Vanderbilt, drafted and developed by the Braves.
  6. They signed him on August 8 last year when he was batting .291/.335/.468. It would have taken some pretty amazing analysis and film to project his 2022 season at that point.
  7. Kreidler and Perez sure, but is there anything to evaluate with Clemens other than to see whether he can be a utility player?
  8. Right, I would love to see them drop Schoop and go with Baez and Correa up the middle, but that is not likely.
  9. I think criticizing that deal is just hindsight. Schoop was more than worth it if he even approached his norms.
  10. Thank me for this one. I just added Plesac to my fantasy team just for this game!
  11. Lucky bounce and lucky overturn. The Tigers were due.
  12. And if Clemens continues to be bad at age 27, that increases the chance that Zach Short is on the team.
  13. yeah, but if they cut Schoop, then he'll have a good year for someone else!
  14. He won't get on base, but I can see him getting back to 20 homers with strong defense which would make him worth more than they are paying him. Even if he doesn't bounce back, so many upgrades are needed they probably won't be able to make all of them even if Ilitch goes to a 200 million payroll.
  15. I'm not sure if you're being serious here, but with so many holes and a weak free agent class, it's going to be hard make all the needed changes even with a major payroll boost. So, I think they'll keep Schoop and look to make upgrades elsewhere.
  16. I think Schoop will be back and will do better next year. He is still a strong fielder, so it's easier to deal with his weak bat. Plus, it seems unusual for a middle infielder to completely lose it offensively without losing his fielding ability. Fielding skill usually deteriorates before hitting.
