  1. The great thing about that is that they were all complete game shutouts.
  2. I agree. If you want to honor a player who has retired, just have a day for him. The Tigers signed Al Cicotte to a six-day contract in 1977 long after he retired, so he could qualify for a pension. He was in poor health and was having financial problems. In that case, it was a nice gesture.
  3. It's just one day though. He could pick both!
  4. What if both teams give him a one-day contract?
  5. I don't know what Christie's job was, but I'll never forget the hostage video:
  6. They made it through one round last year and could have made it two rounds if Skubal was sharp in game five versus the Indians. The playoffs are getting to be more like bullpen games every year. The bigger problem might be their bullpen which was better last year.
  7. How is a one day contract going to mollify fans?
  8. Yes, you are right. I read the article too quickly. He does seem to hire masculine looking tough guy types who will make him look good and appeal to his base. He has also been surrounded by Chris Christie, Elon Musk and Stephen Miller.
  9. With 16 teams making the playoffs and 4 team divisions, I think sub-.500 making the playoffs will be a faily common occurrence.
  10. Another theory is that he likes to hire beautiful young women and unattractive men who he thinks the women will like less than him: https://www.newsweek.com/trump-official-hired-ugly-guys-women-prefer-him-new-book-1842773
  11. Politicians are politicians, but he did have some good in him at one time. I think he has a drinking problem.
  12. I don't like the idea of a split season because it goes against tradition. However, If they expand the playoffs to 16 teams which I am pretty sure they will, then the regular season becomes almost meaningless. So, I wouldn't be upset if they did the half season thing. Seeing a team win a half season is more exciting than watching teams battle for 16th place. It's not like they are having two distinct halves with playoffs at mid-season. I also think the team that wins the first half probably would be one of the top 16 teams at the end anyway.
  13. This sounds like a defense of Edman.
  14. Or they might go back to pitching chaos for the playoffs. At this point, that might be the most likely scenario.
  15. And protecting yourself from lightning is not a right?
  16. Do you feel the same way about 2A people who walk around with guns all day because they are afraid of society?
  17. I don't know what the magic number is now. Edman and Chas got me all confused. The only solution is getting rid of divisions, make the schedule as balanced as possible and take the top six teams in each league.
  18. I am surprised he is even aware of his bad behavior. Ultimately, this will turn out to be another grift. What's he selling this time?
  19. I would agree, but only because they did the same with his predecessor.
  20. I honestly don't notice anything unusual. He's old and it shows.
  21. Then you aren't really disagreeing. I think somebody somewhere would have caught it and it would have ended up on something like youtube and youtube and social media are at least as influential now as most traditional media
  22. You could say that about every single political topic today. My life was better when I didn't think about politics. It's hard to ignore it today though. In my case, it is affecting every facet of my job. There is no getting away from it.
  23. I have read a lot about the Marichal/Roseboro incident before, but I had never seen that video. They either did not capture the initial attack or edited it out. It is possible that it was edited out because it was reportedly shocking and sickening. It,of course, would not be edited out today. There would be so many versions of it, that it would show up somewhere. I did see #27 Marichal with a raised bat during the brawl. I saw #28 Wes Parker with a bat too. He was playing first base at the time, so I wonder where he got the bat. Did he run back to the dugout to get a bat, so he could defend his teammate?
