  1. That's all he has wanted his whole life - a show where he is the primary actor. He is getting what he asked for.
  2. Juan + Juan = 2
  3. It might get him more votes.
  4. I wanted him on the team last year. Not sure if I wanted him for four years starting at age 30.
  5. Another thing about Chafin is he is a reliever. Relievers don't usually have long shelf lives, so teams build bullpens year to year. There is no sense getting upset about the loss of a non-dominant 32 year-old reliever. Candelario...They should have kept!
  6. Wasn't there a case several years ago where a player filed for less than the team offered?
  7. At least we now have a better idea of who the five starters will be at the beginning of the season.
  8. I doubt that happens given his health.
  9. I can see that. In my line of work, speed and efficiency, while good to have at the micro level, are probably less important than willingness to completely redo an analysis which you spent weeks putting together or the experience to know how to look at a problem from a bunch of different angles because there is no best way to do anything in research.
  10. My experience is that younger people tend to learn things faster, but lack of experience often causes them to get frustrated with the many redos required in research.
  11. Yes, I have noticed that some of the jobs specifically ask for a college student or very recent graduate.
  12. That is really surprising. Perhaps, they don't want to lose their social security.
  13. Christie has dropped out of the race. If his votes go to Haley, the New Hampshire primary could be interesting.
  14. I have always assumed that these baseball analytic jobs don't pay well since there is probably a large pool of qualified and interested candidates.
  15. I am probably in the minority but watching over the hill players chasing counting records doesn't do anything for me especially when it comes at the expense of lifetime rate stats. Verlander is still good though, so it wouldn't bother me (at least not yet)
  16. I think it's more because they don't stay in games long enough to accumulate large win totals. It will eventually get to the point where pitchers realize that induvudual wins are not meaningful anymore. I think a lot of them are already there.
  17. There will be more players reaching 500 homers than ever. I agree 300 wins is the only milestone that is going to very rare.
  18. This guy would have been a fun signing: https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=ko----001woo
  19. I know nothing about her, but anyone who triggers the MAGAs is fine with me.
  20. I am fortunate enough to not know who Levin is. I have a friend who raves about Bongino. He practically begged me to listen to him. I clinked on the link and knew he was a huckster within 10 seconds.
  21. I used to listen to Limbaugh back in the early 90s just because it came up as I flipped the car radio dial. I thought it was humorous and I had no idea millions of people took him seriously. I actually think it started out more as comedy than a serious show and then he saw how rich and powerful he was becoming and milked it for all it was worth.
  22. Fauci is in Washington today for a closed door congressional interview. I guess they figured out that getting owned by Fauci in public is not a good look.
  23. Danny Bautista
  24. I would say a third of the country doesn't give a crap about politics one way or the other. You won't get them to vote because you think Trump is going to end democracy and become the supreme leader of a White Christian Nationalist country. They will just laugh at you. If they vote at all, it's going to based on something concrete like the country shutting down because of an epidemic and the president responding like a moron. Hopefully, that doesn't happen in 2024!
  25. That wouldn't affect SP rank on fangraphs. I am pretty sure their ranks are based on based on projected innings, strikeouts, walks, homers and possibly hard hit balls rather than runs allowed. So, if a reliever doesn't get his job done, then that would be on him rather than the starter.
