  1. It's not accurate to only say 162 days. They work seven days a week and there is also Spring Training and training during the off-season. It's a lot of money though.
  2. Pujols was better. Trout had a higher OPS+ the first 12 years (176 to 168). Pujols was more durable (91.5 WAR to 79.9 WAR) and that is important. Cabrera lagged behind: 154 OPS+ and 59.8 WAR. Those are awesome numbers, but not quite the same class as the others.
  3. I think it should be difficult to get gun permits of any kind, so that's a good thing.
  4. Another question I have about concealed carry without a permit is why was this kid (or people like him) not able to get or not willing to pursue a permit?
  5. He probably did. However, the question is will the sum total of lives saved by people carring guns exceed the total of lives ended by people carrying guns?
  6. Countries with strict gun laws have lower gun homicide rates. States with strict gun laws have lower gun homicide rates. So, yes I think it's very possible that barriers to entry can work.
  7. Soto makes no sense for the Tigers. They would get him for two years and then he'll leave. The only teams that should consider trading for him are teams that are either one hitter away from post-season or willing to break the bank on an insane extension. The Tigers are not in either category.
  8. Comes back from what? He got hot for a few weeks three years ago. He's a still a prospect, but I don't see him as anything special at this point.
  9. He obviously reads this board. My negativity lit a fire under him.
  10. I think the trade was supposed to Michael Drumright and Roberto Duran for Bernie Williams. Randy Smith insisted an agreement was in place and that the Yankees reneged. I think Smith was high. If it was another team besides the Yankees, I could believe that they were trying to dump Williams' salary, but trading Williams in his prime for prospects was not the Yankees way.
  11. They are fun as a novelty. I don't think baseball needs to learn from them.
  12. I'd be happy if they got just one Page.
  13. My mind is elsewhere and has been for a while. I still follow the game closely, but I am a lot less emotionally invested than I used to be. I no longer sit and watch the Tigers for three hours every night. I typically have the game on in the background as I do other stuff and will pay closer attention to the game on and off.
  14. I don't know if they should be the only ones to vote, but I value a woman's opinion (even if it's pro-life) on abortion over a man's opinion.
  15. Trump will give him a nickname and publicly ridicule him. Pence will be too polite/scared to respond effectively.
  16. They'll get a hard throwing right-hander with control problems. He used to be top 50, but hasn't been able to put it together above A ball. Maybe Fetter can figure something out. They'll also get a toolsy 19 year old shortstop who has five walks in 500 plate appearances.
  17. It's not, but it wasn't his policies which caused inflation either.
  18. I'd rather they left Schoop at second and moved Castro to first. The only good thing about Schoop is his second base defense.
  19. He was that kid that stayed back three times and was still in high school when he was 20. He had a full beard as a Junior and scared the crap out of everybody.
  20. Not a lot longer if you are counting great years. Neither Cabrera nor Pujols has been great for a long time.
  21. If they had done that all year, they would be playing .500 ball (as their pitching has been average for the year).
  22. I got excited when I saw Soto trending on Twitter...but it was the wrong Soto.
