  1. Trump on Musk: "You can't bullshit a bullshit artist". You actually can though. BS artists are actually more open to BS than others.
  2. His lifetime wRC+ is 120. He has a wRC+ of 100 this year with zero home runs His Zips projection for the rest of the season is 132. This is pretty high, but other projection systems have him around 120. There is no ZIPS projection for 23, 24 but his OPS projection suggests about 120 OPS+or more. I don't think 120 sounds ambitious if he is healthy.
  3. That photo even made it to The Boston Globe. Fielder's 1990 season was very memorable as 50 home runs was a really big deal at the time. Fans who only care about making the playoffs won't agree, but I actually though 90-93 was a fun team to watch. They had no pitching, but their offense was explosive.
  4. The only way the 2024 election is not a shit show is if the election is a blow out which rarely happens anymore.
  5. I was talking about baseball in general. It's a very different ball game than it was in the 60s and 70s. I miss a lot of things about the old game such as complete games, but they just are not practical anymore. It's not because current players are weak or pampered. It's because teams can win more games and get more out of their pitchers if they make more use of relief pitchers.
  6. There is no reason for him to retire even if they pay him. He is still reasonably productive and has actually been durable this year. I doubt he'll want to play beyond next year in a part-time role and smaller salary, although Pujols is doing it so you never know.
  7. That could be part of it. There are also smaller parks, better weight training and nutrition, maybe juiced balls. Whatever the reasons, it's no longer practical to have starters pitch complete games.
  8. That's because there were a lot of weak hitters in line-ups allowing pitchers to save their hard stuff for key spots.
  9. Not really offensive. Just out of place. Thanks for removing it before we spiraled into politics.
  10. I agree that the left sometimes hints at violence and they should not do that. The right doesn't hint. They come right and say it now. The glorification of guns is a big problem too. If pro gun people want to be taken seriously, maybe they could say something like "My right to a gun is important to me, but gun ownership is a very serious responsibility and not everyone is capabable of doing the work necessary to earn that right". That would be a lot better that taking photo ops with guns like Boebert or designing Christmas cards where everyone in the family is holding a gun or creating ads where they shoot their political opponents.
  11. When they get shot by the weapons of today, do you even recognize that it's a person?
  12. Carlson is doing it because he's being paid to do it.
  13. I believe you are right. And it actually makes some sense not to tell the pitcher.
  14. I didn't say it though. I said BROADCASTERS should say it. Chasfh was the one who said it. Blame him!
  15. Broadcasters should tell us what is happening. Leave the traditional jinx stuff to the ballplayers.
  16. I don't know. 15 deaths over 10 years doesn't seem like a lot. Was it deaths per year? By the way, I do think that banning weapons probably decreases deaths, but I don't think that the analysis is at all robust. Another thing I'd like to see is deaths for each year listed rather than clumps of 10 years. There could be one year with a bunch of deaths that is driving it.
  17. Before the ban, deaths were only 15 higher. That could just be random variation, but again you have to take into consideration more variables than just time.
  18. There were points I disagreed with too such as forgiving debt. I just thought it was a funny video. The clothes, the hair, the accent, ...
  19. This video is awesome. Even if you're a conservative and you disagree with it it's still awesome (need to have it on audio).
  20. So, they will probably be stuck with him for five years. He won't opt out because nobody will want him. Same thing with Baez if he continues to suck.
  21. How can anyone even stand to listen to her voice for more than 30 seconds.
  22. I don't think he sounds "smart". He just doesn't sound dumb which is a step up from Donald Trump who consistently sounds like a moron. Most politicians do not sound very intellectual to me. They do understand policy and law and know how to navigate our government bureacracy. Trump is too lazy to do that.
