  1. He doesn't like Reds or Angels fans either.
  2. I have never felt like I was "part of the team", so it wouldn't sting at all even if it wasn't BS.
  3. Pro Athlete BS. He would have said the same thing if he pitched a no hitter with the Tigers.
  4. I was asking about Keith's range since he is slow. From what I gather, he doesn't have a position and they were using him at third because he has a strong arm. Vierling is pretty athletic, so maybe he'll be OK. The only thing about him is that it is kind of unusual to be primarily an outfielder and them move to the infield. Perhaps, his lack of infield play was based on team need rather than ability.
  5. Does Keith have the range to play 2B? Vierling at 3B and Keith at 2B doesn't sounds like great defense.
  6. You can thank me for putting Torkelson on my bench tonight.
  7. Great game for Mike Lorenzon. Should of extended.
  8. When they acquired Cabrera, he was already one of the two or three best hitters in baseball at age 24. So, there was every reason to believe he was on a Hall of Fame career track. I was shocked that they were able to obtain a hitter of his caliber and my only question was whether they would be able to sign him long term.
  9. I remember somebody (it may have been Bill Ferris) thoroughly went through every trade made by Dombrowski and concluded that Dombrowski won the vast majority of them.
  10. Cabrera third on the team in OBP.
  11. Rogers is pretty good too. Buggy whip.
  12. Eduardo Rodriguez is pretty good. Late movement.
  13. I miss the NY Penn League. Two of my favorite ballparks were in that league.
  14. I thought Beckman was a pretty good broadcaster and he seemed friendly when I met him in Lakeland once. I saw the rumor here a long time ago that he might have been the the reason for Harwell getting fired. If it's true, then it's very disappointing.
  15. That's how I felt most of my life and I still think politicians have very little effect on my life. However,as I have gotten older, I have grown to understand that they have an effect on other people's lives and some day I might be one of those people.
  16. I'm sure he impressed his mother.
  17. I think Maton is safe. Calvo is probably next in line.
  18. They could but he'll cost a lot more this time.
  19. I don't think he'll get over 100 million, but he'll most likely get a lot more than 3/49 from some team. I'm expecting him to opt out. The Tigers will probably offer one year deals to pitchers coming off injuries or sub-par seasons. They'll hope for another Lorenzen.
  20. I have gone left with age. The more I have learned about life, the more left I have become.
  21. Money or players? I think he is worth more than the 3/45 remaining on his contract. In terms of players, I'm not good at that. It always seems to me like the teams getting prospects don't do as well as they should. However, I think once the option is removed his value would go up quite a bit.
  22. Rogers is fine for now. There is no need to move him, but he's 28 so I don't think he is someone to build around either. We'll probably never know who was was coming back in the trade, but Roriguez and Rogers really should have brought back a couple of top prospects.
  23. That is fine. Fans don't have to like all the same players. I disliked Pudge Rodriguez after he quit on the team a couple of times. I don't care if he opts out or gets traded. What I disagreed with was the idea that he would be traded for below market value if he does opt in. I don't think that would be a good outcome.
  24. He's a solid left-handed starter. That is one of the most valuable products in sports. I really doubt he is damaged goods. If he continues to pitch well and the option is out of the way, he won't be difficult to trade for market value.
  25. I also doubt that move would be unanimously supported within the organization. Trading him at market value at the next trading deadline would be a different story. Settling for less because you feel disrespected seems like a loser move. Ultimately, I think he'll opt out.
