  1. I don't think he's viewed as a future starter. I believe his ultimate role would be utility player.
  2. Hinch wouldn't let them pee before the game and not until they scored a run.
  3. I thought they were quite boring.
  4. I don't think any defensive statistic is really that accurate at this point in the season. A simple one like DER might more sense at this point, but I'd like to see what it looks like a little later.
  5. According to Baseball Savant, the team is -6 Outs Below Average Schoop is the best in baseball +5 and H. Castro (-6) is the worst. https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/leaderboard/outs_above_average?type=Fielder&startYear=2022&endYear=2022&split=no&team=&range=year&min=q&pos=&roles=&viz=hide According to FanGraphs, the Tigers are -5 runs below average which is 26th. It's all small sample sizes of course.
  6. I think she is a very weak prospect analyst and Baseball America made a mistake hiring her as their Tigers prospect writer. While she is badly miscast as a prospect expert, she has apparently been influential in the advances made in the treatment of minor league players. I also feel very bad for anyone who has to endure cancer.
  7. I think some people had overly high expectations for the Tigers going into the year. They aren't that good and they over performed somewhat last year. This is still a development year. The only way they were going to be a strong contender was if all the key young players broke out this year which is always a longshort. What dissapointments me most is that three of the most important young players that we wanted to watch are hurt. Hopefully, their development is only delayed. Their pitching actually hasn't been bad and their hitting will get better.
  8. You can't fire Hinch. You just can't. He single-handedly brought the franchise to the point it is at today.
  9. Why would we want to see Candelario sent down anyway? Who is going to play third base?
  10. Is this the thread where we talk about relegation?
  11. Probably not. Manfred doesn't like like him. The Dodgers don't like his contract.
  12. Not everyone who wants increased border control is a racist, but for those who are driving the hysteria it's definitely about race.
  13. I finally got it this week too. Same symptoms as you described, but the effects didn't last as long as a typical cold or flu. After resting for four days, I felt good enough to run today.
  14. Who broke it up and why? Let the boys play!
  15. I wonder if he'll latch on with an Indy team to keep his arm strong and... to get attention.
  16. I think you have it all wrong. If I owned a business, I'd want to hire the guy that swam across the Rio Grande to get here. Someone like that will make a real hard working and creative American! The paper pusher that knows how to charm the immigration admin and manipulate the system not so much!
  17. I don't think it's possible. Last year, there was a 107 win team and a 106 win team and neither one reached the World Series which was won by an 88 win team missing their superstar.
  18. That is probably part of it, although this time the owners insisted on expanding the playoffs specifically because they already had a new playoff deal lined up. The problem is if you have too many teams in the playoffs, all the good teams will clinch in August and can coast the final month which is not exciting for fans of good teams. Then the post-season in baseball is such a crap shoot that it becomes almost meaningless. The end result is that it's not necessary to build a great team when being pretty good can reap the same rewards which is the player's concern.
  19. It's not about the regular season. They want more playoffs because playoffs generate big TV money.
  20. In general, I think he has been used correctly during his career. Even now with their poor outfield defense, how long would fans tolerate him if he has an OPS of .650 versus RHP? It's best to pick your spots with him. I am happy to see Hill get some consistent at bats for a while even thouigh I doubt he will do enough offensively.
  21. I was Luis Tiant. I imitated him so much that it became my natural pitching motion. When I pitched in Little League, I was pitching like him without even realizing it.
  22. What is the point of your question? As stated, I feel like it doesn't make much of a difference.
  23. which makes him a decent bench player. Just don't give him too many at bats versus RHP.
  24. Has a mediocre player even gotten as much support as Reyes gets?
