  1. In general, I think he has been used correctly during his career. Even now with their poor outfield defense, how long would fans tolerate him if he has an OPS of .650 versus RHP? It's best to pick your spots with him. I am happy to see Hill get some consistent at bats for a while even thouigh I doubt he will do enough offensively.
  2. I was Luis Tiant. I imitated him so much that it became my natural pitching motion. When I pitched in Little League, I was pitching like him without even realizing it.
  3. What is the point of your question? As stated, I feel like it doesn't make much of a difference.
  4. which makes him a decent bench player. Just don't give him too many at bats versus RHP.
  5. Has a mediocre player even gotten as much support as Reyes gets?
  6. Empty batting averages on the bench were OK when they had 5 or 6 men benches. Guys like that make good pinch hitters. When you have a 3-4 man bench they all need to be able to play a position or two.
  7. That's a shame because this is the year he's going to hit for power.
  8. The majority of fans I interact with thought they would end up with a better record than last year. Many belittled the pre-season projections saying they would only win 73 or 75 games or whatever.
  9. yeah, but Reds fans knew they were going to suck and no one told them otherwise!
  10. Wait...Shelton is here and all he's doing is talking about auto racing? Tell me it aint so.
  11. I remember seeing him have melt downs on errors by Brookens.
  12. Don't look at yourself in the rearview mirror.
  13. I never understood the term "shoving" for pitchers. I know it's a word scouting types like to use, but it makes no sense for a pitcher. Is there an origin I don't know about?
  14. They do. However, I think their pitching staff performed above it's stats last year. So, using last years record as a baseline was probably generous.
  15. If he were not a Rule 5 guy, he almost surely would not have reached the majors yet, so some time in AAA wouldn't be terrible.
  16. I was told to ignore their April record last year because Hinch changed the whole franchise starting in May😉.
  17. We usually benefit when you stay silent!
  18. Welcome back Srewball! It's good to see you here. They did start raising rates in 2018, but I think Wall Street didn't like it, so it didn't last long!
  19. That is what I do with the money which will be used for retirement only. I don't expect to touch it for at least another ten years, so it's not too much of a worry that every choice sucks this year. Inflation is a worry though.
  20. My favorite Brian Dubois moment was when Sparky Anderson came out to the mound to take him out of the game in his first start. Anderson extended his arm to take the ball before saying anything like he always did. Dubois thought he was offering a handshake, so he shook his hand. Catcher Mike Heath started laughing.
  21. As were Soto's walk rate and the Tigers poor defense.
  22. They aren't more predictive than the previous group of saber stats though, at least not for pitchers. They don't help us predict future performance any better than K%, BB%, FIP, etc. They do work better for hitters.
