They need any good player they can get at the right price. If they could get someone like Conforto for the next few years within whatever their budget is, then great, but I wouldn't try to patch an outfielder in right now. I think pitching is a greater need.

It's always nice to add another bat, but I am fine with the Tigers position players to start the season. They need more pitching depth.

Best shape of his life... Rod Carew looks like he could bat .300 as a National League DH at 76.- 1,851 replies

You need at least 8 starters to get through the season, so I think there is plenty of room. Manning has to be given a job, but we don't know how dependable he is yet. Alexander looked good last year, but he could be a fluke. They have some minor league guys like Wentz and Olson who might be OK, but are unproven. They need more depth.

I would stay away from Peralta. Other than ERA, his numbers were pretty bad. I think they got lucky with him last year.

Not being able to pitch is a problem! Even his minor league numbers were not impressive.- 1,851 replies

I have seen several tweets today from fans who say they always liked VerHagen. I still don't get it.- 1,851 replies

I didn't like VerHagen because he kept getting so many chances and a lot of people kept saying he had great potential and I always just thought he sucked. I wonder where Buck Farmer is going to play this year.- 1,851 replies

In public school in the seventh grade, I remember being taught evolution and I was surprised when one kid shouted out that it was all BS. It was surprising at the time because this kid was usually kind of laid back and joking all the time. It was the first time I had heard about this controversy. My parents taught me about religion, but it was never a big deal. They bought a chidren's Bible as a kid and I read it. My father told me there were some good lessons in there, but that it was just stories, not real.

I wonder how much playing teams fewer times will help pitchers. If they play every team in the other league only once that is a whole bunch of teams that will see the same pitchers only once.- 1,851 replies

Probably, although 13 seems sufficient in most situations. Early this season , they may need more pitchers. I believe they can call up another player for doubleheaders.- 1,851 replies

There is going to be a 13-pitcher cap on pitchers this year. I haven't heard whether that will be waived in the first couple of weeks.- 1,851 replies

Another thing I don't like. More interleague play and fewer divisional games. If they don't care about divisional rivalries, then get rid of divisions and just take the top six teams in each league.- 1,851 replies
