Who would you consider a strong and healthy POTUS? Please don't embarrass yourself by suggesting Trump.

This is the price of gas adjusted for inflation and average miles per gallon of automobiles. Opinion: The price of gasoline isn't really at a record high. In fact, the inflation-adjusted cost of driving a mile was higher for most of the past century - MarketWatch So, it's going up, but it's been a lot worse in the past.

LOCKOUT '22: When will we see baseball again?
Tiger337 replied to Motor City Sonics's topic in Detroit Tigers
Not everyone can do it easily, but there have definitely been eras when more than a few hitters could use the field better and eras where it would be conducive to winning. I think deadening the ball would change things a lot, but it's not going to happen.- 1,851 replies

I agree. I just hate seeing people say stuff that isn't true when we already have more than enough true stuff we can throw at them.

I don't think he told his daughters to lie back and enjoy it. He told them not to do that. At least that was my interpretation of his rambling.

GLD/SLV are both doing great. I wish I went more into commodoties, but I am too conservative to abandon my mostly passive investing.

LOCKOUT '22: When will we see baseball again?
Tiger337 replied to Motor City Sonics's topic in Detroit Tigers
It's not easy, but there have always been players who could do it. It's not conducive to winning because the whole game is designed for home runs now. They could deaden the ball, but they don't want to. Removing the shift is not going to change that. Players will keep swinging for the fences.- 1,851 replies

I would guess they'll have a rule where all four infielders must stay on the dirt and there must be two infielders on both sides of second base before the pitch is thrown. They can go anywhere they want after that.- 1,851 replies

They don't want to use the whole field because swinging for the fences is their best chance to score runs, shift or no shift.- 1,851 replies

Everybody is America first except for your cult leader. He is me first and me only. Imagine having a crazy man who has no morals or ethics at all and who is incapable of thinking beyond himself as your leader. Not only that but millions believe every word he says and love him unconditionally. That's kind of creepy. Don't you think?

The MAGA cult has been the biggest threat to our country in my lifetime.

I think it's often because they are distracted and forget to take it off. I hate wearing a mask and take it off as soon as I leave the store, but some people are not bothered by it and becomes natural to them. Or maybe, they are going to another store nearby and they don't take it off because they don't want to have to put it on again.

It's really looking like they are going to ban shifts. That is not something that matters a lot to me, but I think it's lame. That was a smart strategy, not some silly gimmick. There has never been any rule which stated the players had stay in a certain zone. Hitters need to respond by making adjustments. I know someone is going to say that's too hard for them to do, but I don't buy it. They learned how to hit home runs. In time, they can learn how to beat the shift.- 1,851 replies

yet, it's Trump supporters who always claim to think critically while the rest of us are "sheeple" following the establishment.

They are going to have bigger bases too, but that's the kind of thing I probably wouldn't notice. I have heard the primary reasoning is that it might cut down injuries. I can see on close plays where a runner is trying to reach the base and the fielder is in the way that a bigger base might prevent collisions (especially at first. The secondary benefit would be more steals, but I am very skeptical.- 1,851 replies

Liston decided to go through with the Rule V even though the Rule 5 got cancelled. The popcorn was already a year old and he didn't want to wait another year. So, we had a smaller gathering and without the excitement of the draft to keep us distracted, things got a little out of hand. Liston got Manfred's cell phone number and told Casimir to make a prank call pretending to be Tony Clark. It was all in good fun, but Casimir went a little too far. MLB threatened to sue Liston, but I think he got that straightened out. Nobody is mad at Casimir though. It was his first Rule V party and he wanted to make an impression. You can't really blame him.- 1,851 replies
