  1. It's really looking like they are going to ban shifts. That is not something that matters a lot to me, but I think it's lame. That was a smart strategy, not some silly gimmick. There has never been any rule which stated the players had stay in a certain zone. Hitters need to respond by making adjustments. I know someone is going to say that's too hard for them to do, but I don't buy it. They learned how to hit home runs. In time, they can learn how to beat the shift.
  2. yet, it's Trump supporters who always claim to think critically while the rest of us are "sheeple" following the establishment.
  3. They are going to have bigger bases too, but that's the kind of thing I probably wouldn't notice. I have heard the primary reasoning is that it might cut down injuries. I can see on close plays where a runner is trying to reach the base and the fielder is in the way that a bigger base might prevent collisions (especially at first. The secondary benefit would be more steals, but I am very skeptical.
  4. Get it done. I like change...when it's good change.
  5. These same people have no problem giving us their opinions on Covid-19 despite knowing nothing about epidemiology, biochemistry or microbiology.
  6. Hard to believe he still has donors. Hard to believe they probably thought this was funny.
  7. When Randy Marsh showed up with his date wrapped in bacon, you knew it was going to be a wild day. She was not too smart, but she was hot.
  8. Liston decided to go through with the Rule V even though the Rule 5 got cancelled. The popcorn was already a year old and he didn't want to wait another year. So, we had a smaller gathering and without the excitement of the draft to keep us distracted, things got a little out of hand. Liston got Manfred's cell phone number and told Casimir to make a prank call pretending to be Tony Clark. It was all in good fun, but Casimir went a little too far. MLB threatened to sue Liston, but I think he got that straightened out. Nobody is mad at Casimir though. It was his first Rule V party and he wanted to make an impression. You can't really blame him.
  9. They might get frozen shut during a November playoff game.
  10. He's a genius like Trump. He can identify an elephant in a picture.
  11. She was giving an explanation to an audience who she felt wouldn't understand something more complex Kind of like We are going build a wall to keep out all the bad people. Unfortunately, Trump still has a lot of power. A third of the country is hanging on every word he says.
  12. And Biden also takes the blame when pandemic related things happen (like inflation to a large extent).
  13. Yeah, Covid has been the biggest "event" of my lifetime. It changed so many things about the way we lived and did business and some of them will likely be permanent.
  14. The last few years relievers haven't been much better than starters. 2019 Starters 4.54 FIP Relievers 4.51 2020 4.46, 4.45 2021 4.34, 4.22 It seems as if they go any further into the bullpens than they already have, they won't be gaining anything.
  15. Are there enough good pitchers where you can keep having them throw fewer and fewer innings? In theory, you'd get max results if each pitcher pitched all out for an inning, but the number of major league quality pitchers is limited. There are already a lot of crappy relievers in the game.
  16. Interesting study. I had thought time between pitches would be more. Time between batters seems like something could be fixed. Too many strikeouts is a big problem which is not as easy to fix. I think they could do it by deadening the ball...but casual fans dig the longball, so it won't happen. Walks are not up significantly. I don't know about foul balls.
  17. He may be doing OK, but that's not what people look at.
  18. The bounce probably came from the war. Presidents always gain during war time, at least initially. I think it's kind of rallying against the enemy. Not being a dick bag during the SOTU may have helped. The bar is low.
  19. I am skeptical as to whether this will work, but the game does need more action.
  20. Hard to believe he is the current favorite to be president again in three years.
  21. He couldn't help himself. It was a spontaneous smile. It's just who he is.
  22. I think they spent about a week getting ready. I know the first game they played was the all-star game and I remember Joe Garagiola getting a little too excited about baseball being back.

  24. That is weird because you would think that a strong respected president would be loved by the military.
