So,you would have been OK with Clinton? Fear of Clinton was the reason Putin campaigned for Trump.

Maybe. I think they bigger question may be whether fans will come back after discovering in the Covid era that there are other things they can do and even like better. On the other hand, attendance did drop for a few years after 1994 until they juiced up the balls and bodies.- 1,851 replies

It's the summer game and they'll still go to the games, but they'll lose a small percentage on top of losses they've already encountered. I think they'll lose money through TV subscriptions too. I think what may save them is gambling, but even the gamblers might not like baseball as much as other sports. It's too random. I do agree they need to speed up the game, but they are still competing with sports that are more exciting to new fans than baseball.- 1,851 replies

Unless the field for the 2024 presidency changes substantially, my only concern is Trump re-assuming the presidency. I am not enamored by Democratic leadership, but I trust they'll let the miltary experts inform them as to the best course of action. I can't trust the former guy to do that. He'll just make it all about himself.

It's more a criticism of Manfred than what he said. He's one of those people who I can't stand listening to because I know it's all BS.- 1,851 replies

? Do you mean "Do you think the players give a shit about the fans?" Maybe one, but probably not two. I am kind of neutral on the players position. I would rather they gain more money than the owners, but I don't feel bad for them. They are paid well. It's not a social justice thing.- 1,851 replies

I still think it will be close to a full season. They'll play chicken a little while longer and start the season some time in April.- 1,851 replies

No, I don't expect someone of his ilk to be honest or care about anything beyond money. I EXPECTED him to say something stupid and he did. That doesn't excuse him for saying something stupid.- 1,851 replies

The pitch clock would be good. I am sure they'll find a way to screw it up, but there is potential there.- 1,851 replies

Right, an empty suit. He doesn't give a shit about the fans or the game except for the money he can get out of it. I'll never forget the day he said they were going to expand playoffs because Americans love brackets! I have never seen anyone care less about the game than him.- 1,851 replies

Tiger337 replied to Motor City Sonics's topic in Detroit Tigers
This would have bothered me a lot more a few years ago. I still love the game but just don't get as excited about the season as much as I used to. It used to be a huge part of my life, but There are other things going on in my life that are getting my attention. I will continue to read and sometimes write about baseball history/statistics and hopefully watch more minor league games this year.- 1,851 replies

12 teams would work most logicallly with two expansion teams and 4 * 8 team divisions. All the division winners would get a bye and the first round would be all the wildcards.- 1,851 replies

So, it looks like they have compromised on 12 teams. Still too many, but it feels different from 14.- 1,851 replies

How long should the MLB season be? How should the games be divided?
Tiger337 replied to RedRamage's topic in Detroit Tigers
I want to be able to compare statistics throughout history, one of my favorite things to do, so there should be a similar number of games. They could cut off a few games if they think it's necessary, but cutting a whole month of games would be bad. As for who plays who how many times, I'd like to see fewer divisions and no interleague play and no wildcards. I am assuming there will be a million teams in the post-season tournament Let's make it 16. 16 teams is no worse than 14 and it gives us a nicer number. Take the top four teams in each division. Play 16 games against each divisional opponent and 6 games versus each opponent in the other division. -
