I have always had a soft spot for the Phillies because my father was a Cardinals fan and we used to listen to Cardinals/Phillies games on the Radio when I was a kid. The Philadelphia station had a strong signal and it was one of the few stations where we could listen to Cardinal games. That was before I knew that WJR had a strong signal too.

I think it's becauise they trust Flaherty more. If this series goes five games and the Tigers win, then the pitcher who pitches the opener of the next series would pitch three times if it goes 7 games. That would probably be Flaherty

Like most baseball playoff series. I look at Seattle's line-up though and it looks better than either than Cleveland or Detroit. I don't think Seattle or Detroit is the same offensive team they were in the first half. Your point about Skubal rings true though. Aces have greater value in the playoffs. Instead of pitching 20% of the games, he is pitching 40% of the games. For what it's worth, FanGraphs World Series win odds: Seattle 17.7% Deroit 5.8%

I think Seattle is the favorite, but it's 5-game series and Skubal is pitching 2 of those games. Anything can happen

Sounds more like a Randy Smith trade - trade with Houston where lots of mediocre players are exchanged.
