I don't think he measures up to most Hall of Famers. I would have liked to have seen Tommy John and Luis Tiant make it.

**** Allen and Dave Parker have been elected into the Hall of Fame. Allen was one of the greatest hitters in MLB history finishing with a 156 OPS+ lifetime. That is 18th best ever. He deserves it. Parker was a Hall of Fame talent for a few years before he blew out his knee, but he didn't have enough years and I think he was a weak pick. He is kind of in the Jim Rice class as far as peak versus career. He was a better player than Rice, but just not enough years.

I put Sweeney in the Jung category - has some promise, but not certain enough where they would forego an upgrade.

He's a shortstop and good fielder. He was a 5 WAR player before the injury. The injury definitely complicates things though.

If they do make massive cuts in order to save money, they will affect people including MAGAs. There is some waste in government and I have always been in favor of making selective cuts here and there across the board (not easy to do!), but I think people will find that cutting entire departments and firing thousands of employees would have undesired and unexpected effects that are going to hurt people that they know. It won't hurt the wealthy though. They'll be fine.

That is a good point. My 99 year old father was in an emergency room for over 30 hours a year ago because there were no hospital beds. He had both Medicare and VA insurance, so he could go to either. VA was a cost savings for certain things.
