The wildcard round is best of three. The Tigers would probably have about a 45% chance to win that series. It's pretty much a crap shoot. I do agree they are not good and probably won't make the playoffs. If they did make the playoffs with, let's say, a 80-82 record and proceeded to win the World Series, it would be entertaining but it would be a hollow championship. There would be no comparison to 1984 or 1968. I'd rather see them be a good team for 162 games and lose the World Series than win that way. I don't want to see them trading young players for a one-year run at the playoffs and I don't see anyone suggesting that. They are in a weak division though, so they don't need to go on another five-year plan. I would not mind if they traded young prospects for young about to get expensive young players in the majors with some cheap team that doesn't want to pay them. Another possibility, If Rodriguez is still strong in late July would be to extend enough to get him to not opt out.

That is one way of looking at it and it's valid. In my way of thinking, If I only live into my 70s, I am not going need my social securtity because I could live off my savings and investments. I am delaying so I can get the maximun amount in case I live to be 100.

I don't think your views on these issues as stated in your post are radical. I also don't think it's ridiculous to be Christian. Most people I know identify as Christian. I might mock someone who pushes his or her so called Christians values if I don't think that person actually has Christian values.

They won't default. They may play chicken for a few days, but a default would cause economic catastrophe. Trump doesn't care because he is not currently in office and he's an amoral psychopath who thinks he can personally benefit from a catastrophe. At the very least, others won't want to look bad when their voters start losing SS benefits. And it is possible some of them may have actual human emotions where they might get a little guilty upon seeing widespread human suffering. That might be a liitle too much to ask, but I think the former is true.

Thanks for noticing that. It was assumed by many on the right that he would be a radical liberal, so they stuck with that story even when it turned out he did not behave radically at all. I liked Obama more than most Presidents (not necessarily a ringing endorsement!) He didn't do anything extraordinary, but I thought he was a steadying influence which I think is an important presidential quality especially given that he was elected during the worst recession of our lifetimes.

I always considered Obama to be mixed race and more White because the person who gave birth to him was White. However, he would have been considered Black in the days when Blacks were generally treated like animals. For him to elected President by a significant margin was truely historic. Tim Scott would be less historic, although certainly a huge upset given the Republican electorate.

I would never consider a reliever to be a building block. They tend to have short primes and are more useful to contending teams than building teams. However, given how weak the central division is, I don't know if I want the Tigers to be in re-building mode. They may be able to contend this year and/or next if they can get enough pitchers healthy. They might even consider not trading but extending Rodriguez so he won't opt out. It depends on how well he pitches and how well the team plays the next two months.

Young people that grow up with this stuff will learn how to distinguish real images from fake. Sure people will still lie and deceive as they always have, but it won't be any worse than what we have today. Look at all the people who believe every dumb thing they see on facebook or twitter now. What about people who fall for e-mail and phone scams. It's usually older people who are not savvy with technology.
