  1. We'll see in two years. I don't have a problem with Candelario. I just don't think signing him long term is a priority.
  2. At least they have jobs. The cubs fans are all unemployed.
  3. I like Candelario for the next couple of years, but he doesn't seem like a player that needs to be signed long term. He is adequate both offensively and defensively, but doesn't hit quite well enough to offset further slippage in defense which may happen soon.
  4. Looking at the Rays season statistics and watching some of the series, they don't look like a championship team. The Red Sox really don't either. Toronto is better than all the AL East teams.
  5. I remember when many Tigers fan were saying that Turner was untouchable and they would be pissed if the Tigers traded him.
  6. I don't like R. I use it sometimes because it does some things other languages don't do well. However, I think it's unnecessarily complex for performing simple tasks.
  7. Not since I stopped working for government.
  8. Nothing like that has happened in the Tigers organization for a while. There was that situation in Toledo involving a suspicious death, large gambling debts and connections to the Adduci family, but Toledo law enforcement claimed it was a coincidence.
  9. Every company makes decisions which don't look good from the outside. That doesn't mean anyone can qualify for jobs at these companies. The people that make the ultimate decisions sometimes do things for different reasons than those on the outside think. They even sometimes make decisions that are different than analysts and scientists within the company would make.
  10. Their hiring requirements seem quite high to me. I have been working in statistical programming and analysis for about 30 years and I feel like I barely qualify for some of the analytical positions. The requirements change too as new tools become available. For example, I don't do machine learning on my job. I've played around with it, but I haven't done enough of it to claim I am proficient.
  11. He is one of the most attractive free agents in a long time. Teams won't be afraid to shell out big bucks.
  12. If they don't want to spend, they aren't going get a good shortstop or starting pitcher.
  13. How do you know he's out of range? The video didn't get into specifics and we don't know the Tigers range anyway.
  14. I am always caught in between. As a saber, I appreciate modern strategy, but the old man in me does not always like the aesthetics.
  15. And they weren't that great before which was surprising. Maybe it's positioning or maybe he's a player who make great plays, but is not consistent on routine plays.
  16. I wish they kept him through this year, but he's getting to age where shortstops go over the cliff defensively as well as offensively.
  17. Ok, just looked it up. No ghost runners in the playoffs
  18. The game is tied in the 8th inning. Are they still doing the stupid free runner in extra innings for the playoffs?
  19. DD: "We are always exploring ways to improve our ball club, but we are are happy with our ballclub and we don't expect to make any more moves." Two days later" DD makes big free agent signing.
  20. You can never ever have too much pitching.
  21. Avila sounds like a simpleton next to Hinch. Is he in charge anymore?
  22. That would be the best solution (of all the ones that would have any chance of happening). Take the top three teams in each division. Give the division winners a first round bye. No wildcards. If you aren't good enough to finish in the top three, then you don't deserve it.
  23. Trump has been scamming the country for five years and he still lost 600 million last year. Low IQ! https://www.npr.org/2021/10/05/1043334210/donald-trump-forbes-400
