Simmons was anemic last year. He'll get a one-year deal with a team that doesn't expect to make the playoffs. I am hoping the Tigers are beyond that. If it comes to that, they might as well just go with Kreidler.

So, Rittenhouse did nothing wrong legally and Arbery's killers committed obvious murder. Rittenhouse shot his pursuers in self defense (in the moment) while Arbery did not threaten his murderers. That seems pretty different to me. And yes, I do think our gun laws and people's attitudes about them suck. I am horrified that we allow vigilantism and that people are celebrated for it. That sounds like something that would happen in a third world country.

When did those happen? Israel has been in a lot of wars, but I can't find any wars between Israel and UAE. The agreements between Israel and UAE/Bahrain were not peace agreements. It was a military agreement where they would join forces against Iran. There was nothing historic about it. Players that draw walks age better than players who don't because that's a skill that doesn't deteriorate fast. Fielding skill also tends to go quicker than hitting skill. He does have an unusual skill set though, so it's hard to find comparisons. For what it's worth (not a lot), the most similar batter at the same age was Jonathan Schoop.

yeah, I don't think it's safe to say any of them have been dismissed. All that is really safe to say is that they are pursuing free agent shortstops.

Getting mad at Bonds and Clemens for PEDs is like getting mad at Amazon. Amazon is doing the same crappy stuff other companies do and we are supposed to get upset because they are better at it. I think it's all very complex. It is difficult to say definitively when life starts. I don't know if there is a magical point where I can say for sure where a fetus becomes a person. I probably sound strongly pro-choice, but I am actually ambivalent. I certainly don't think abortion is a positive thing, but I'd rather give women a reasonable interval in which to make a decision. I will add that I think some people who call themselves Christians also pick and choose what parts of Christianity that they like. I am an agnostic myself. My values have been shaped by Christian parents, so I know that's part of me but I am not religious.

I follow Frommer on Twitter. He appears to know something about prospects, but I don't get the impression that he is any kind of insider.
