    Pitchers not being able hit was not as big of a problem when the DH was first introduced in 1973. I always thought it was fun that some pitchers could bat and some couldn't. A pitcher could really give himself and his team an advantage if he could hit. I guess it is worse now because pitchers have not batted their entire life and practically all of them are anemic.

    It would be calculated the same way as games would still be nine innings long. What would change is that 8 hitters get more at bats and pile up more counting stats. if they changed to 8 innings, so that players wouldn't get more at bats they might change the ERA calculation to base it on eight innings. However, pitchers never pitch nine innings anymore anyway, so they could just leave it the same and keep it comparable across years.

    Capone went to jail. Trump will never go to jail and is viewed as a hero by a huge segment of Americans. He's a complete fraud, but here we are talking about him.

    It must be tough getting priority treatment your whole life and then learning that someone else is going to get something.

    Nothing that comes out of his mouth should be trusted and we should keep saying it. Even on rare occaions when he tells the truth, it is for self serving reasons. Every con artist has to to tell the truth once in a while. It's part of the con. He is the biggest con man in US history and the number of perople who have fallen for his act is stunning. His supporters and apologists should be reminded of that at every opportunity.

    I like it when a team has to decide what do with its poor fielding slugger. Do they put him in the field every day potentially hurting the pitcher or do they go with the weak fielding defensive specialist at times? I think that kind of roster management is interesting. I would be in favor of a limit on DH appearances.

    If fans don't want to watch the pitcher bat, don't have him bat. Just have the other eight guys bat. Why do we need a bunch of old, fat and slow DH's? DHs are boring.

    I actually don't recall Trump's withholding approval of the vaccine. I am not doubting it as it fits in with all of his other self serving transgressions. I just don't remember it.

    I will never give Trump a pass for his immature self centered messaging during the pandemic. It is still hurting us today. I believe Biden's approach has been more reasonable, but it's still not working.

There was no good way to handle Covid. It is a huge pandemic and the biggest public health crisis of my lifetime. There was no way to avoid large numbers of deaths and suffering.

    Right, but more home runs over more runs. The 1930s era was the one that consistently produced the most runs, but I doubt they'd want to go back to that style of play.

    They get too much credit and too much blame especially for the economy over which I think they have very limited influence. They are kind of like baseball managers that way.

    Biden is just as responsible for inflation as Trump was for the high unemployment rate in 2020. These guys are like Gods. They control everything.

    That's the kind of thing Manfred would do and not undrerstand the significance of it. I don't like the DH rule, but having a universal DH makes sense with so much interleague play. There are legitimate advantages to having the DH rule.

    Networks that talk honestly about conservative issues are good. I wish there were more (any?) of them. We like to see dangerous extremist media based mostly on conspiracy theories get banned. When networks like that can't get a large enough audience to stay afloat, that says something good about America.

    Pretty much everyone in my family got sick the last two weeks. Some tested positive and some didn't, but we all had the same symtoms - like a typical winter cold. Thankfully, the only ones who haven't gotten sick are my parents as even a cold would take a lot out of them.
