  1. Yeah, the Braves were first and a constant, but we had the Yankees and Cubs at various points too. I actually didn't hate the Yankees because Rizzuto was so entertaining and they didn't win a lot of championships during that period.
  2. We had WGN for a few years in the 80s. Harry Caray was a riot and I was disappointed when it was dropped.
  3. If I remember correctly, I believe I am older than you so our experiences may be different. I grew up in an era where there were hardly any games on TV, so the early years of cable TV were a pretty big deal.
  4. A 26 year-old AA reliever who throws hard but has problems with command.
  5. I like the Braves because they were the first team to dominate cable and back then it was fun to get to watch a team outside of the Red Sox whenever I wanted. Of course, I'd listen the Tigers on WJR if the reception was good but that was usually later in the game. I don't really care about the Chop thing.
  6. I don't think it was anything out of the ordinary. They all do stuff like that now and young fans love it. Pitchers pose too. It's what the game is all about. Well, that and gambling.
  7. I don't want to see any team sneak into the playoffs. That is why I hate expanding the playoffs even further. I don't really want the Tigers to aim for 85 wins. I was just saying that I think they could.
  8. I think fewer teams will tank with more playoff spots.
  9. I know it wouldn't have worked out this year, but if they expand to 14 teams (which I think is inevitable) then 85 wins will get you in most years.
  10. which is one of the big reasons I think "tanking" for several years is a bad strategy.
  11. DeJong is interesting. He can field and is not necessarily a poor hitter. He has power and prior to this year he was not a black hole for getting on base. If they can't get one of the good free agent shortstops, he would be a decent trade option.
  12. Trump has already been impeached twice and nothing came out of it. Nothing is ever going to happen to him or those around him. All we can do is try to keep them out of office.
  13. And the committee is going to do that?
  14. It sounds as if they are doing the opposite of destroying the country. They are putting country ahead of party. Your Republican party has become a huge disgrace. It no longer has any principles, conservative or otherwise. It is all about serving a cult leader. You should be ashamed of your yourself falling for that con.
  15. I agree the committee is a waste of time. I already know Trump and those around him including everybody involved in the insurrection are a disgrace. Trump broadcast the whole thing ahead of time. There's not much to analyze.
  16. I still think their current skill level is in between their poor start and their last five months. I am hoping Avila/Hinch are looking at their final record as they approach the winter rather than thinking that they are an above .500 team already. At the same time, I look at the rosters of some of the playoff teams and they don't appear to be hundreds of miles ahead of the Tigers. I think The Tigers can get close with a good off-season.
  17. He never says anything directly, not even during his presidency. He sends out clear signals to his two groups of supporters, the ignorant populists who worship him and the extreme right wingers who use him. He reaches both groups quite well.
  18. I don't think Biden really ever had any strong support. He only won because who he ran against. Thank God.
  19. Wily Peralta's peripherals suggest he'll be terrible next year. Not interested in seeing him signed.
  20. Benke is still around. He comes up with Tigers trade scenarios all winter on Twitter.
  21. I am not convinced either. I am also not convinced that he didn't know about it initially.
  22. We'll see in two years. I don't have a problem with Candelario. I just don't think signing him long term is a priority.
  23. At least they have jobs. The cubs fans are all unemployed.
  24. I like Candelario for the next couple of years, but he doesn't seem like a player that needs to be signed long term. He is adequate both offensively and defensively, but doesn't hit quite well enough to offset further slippage in defense which may happen soon.
