  1. More importantly, of course, he had a 58 OPS+ this year and 73 lifetime.
  2. I don't like the post-season because it has gotten too long and the whole thing just seems meaningless. The Red Sox and Braves will probably make the World Series because they got hot at the right time. The media will claim that they won because they wanted it more or they play the game right or some kind of silly narrative. It's fun if the Tigers are in it. If the Tigers sneak in with 88 wins and then win the World Series, it will be entertaining, but it won't feel like a true championship like 68 or 84.
  3. One could argue that Trump was the choice of the media as they haven't stopped talking about him for five years. They have enriched each other greatly.
  4. There* I hate not being able to edit. 😃
  5. Yes, that is very disturbing.
  6. I agree with this. You could argue that their have been worse human beings in the history of the world, but it would be hard to argue that there have been bigger douchebags.
  7. You don't know who anyone voted for in person either since all votes are private.
  8. There were a variety of choices in the primaries, but the people chose Trump, Clinton and Biden.
  9. Who voted for them?
  10. The United States is a great country. Perhaps, we don't deserve what we have.
  11. I think the rioters and their organizers had been waiting for the opportunity to do something like that for a long time. He gave them permission. I am not absolving him of blame. He is 100% guilty. I just don't think he's the mastermind behind anything. He makes stuff up as he goes along. Whatever makes him look good or gives him some kind of advantage at the moment. Whatever it takes to sell his product (which is Donald Trump)
  12. People are going to say the same kind of thing when Trump dies (because he'll deserve it) and his supporters are going to be indignant.
  13. He is all about money and attention. I think that is why he originally ran for President and I don't think he even expected to win. I agree he has no morals or ethics and does not give a shit about the country, but I don't think he is capable of engineering a fascist dictatorship. That would require him to think beyond himself of which he is incapable. I don't even think he incited the riot. He 100% knew about it ahead of time and fully supported it, but the idea and planning came from elsewhere.
  14. I still don't think he is engineering a fascist takeover. I think he is all about money and popularity as he has been his whole life. There could certainly be people who are using him for nefarious aims.
  15. The first year I saw it about 30 years, I thought it was funny. It got old fast, much like the wave.
  16. A high enough percentage of Native Americans are offended by it that it's not cool. I don't think the original intent was disrespectful, but continuing to do it when it's known that many don't like it is arrogant.
  17. One of the memorable games from the era we are talking about was the Cardinals and Braves 19 inning game where Jose Oquendo pitched four innings. The Cardinals ran out of position players and Jose DeLeon was playing the outfield. He kept on switching from right to left with Tom Brunansky depending on who was batting. Every time they made the switch, they showed them running in front of Willie McGee in center and they kept showing McGee's face which made me laugh. McGee just had this innocent look all the time that was amusing. He was one of my favorites from that era.
  18. Yeah, the Braves were first and a constant, but we had the Yankees and Cubs at various points too. I actually didn't hate the Yankees because Rizzuto was so entertaining and they didn't win a lot of championships during that period.
  19. We had WGN for a few years in the 80s. Harry Caray was a riot and I was disappointed when it was dropped.
  20. If I remember correctly, I believe I am older than you so our experiences may be different. I grew up in an era where there were hardly any games on TV, so the early years of cable TV were a pretty big deal.
  21. A 26 year-old AA reliever who throws hard but has problems with command.
  22. I like the Braves because they were the first team to dominate cable and back then it was fun to get to watch a team outside of the Red Sox whenever I wanted. Of course, I'd listen the Tigers on WJR if the reception was good but that was usually later in the game. I don't really care about the Chop thing.
  23. I don't think it was anything out of the ordinary. They all do stuff like that now and young fans love it. Pitchers pose too. It's what the game is all about. Well, that and gambling.
  24. I don't want to see any team sneak into the playoffs. That is why I hate expanding the playoffs even further. I don't really want the Tigers to aim for 85 wins. I was just saying that I think they could.
