  1. Conservatives have always thought that empathy was for weak people. They just don't hide it now.
  2. On the bright side, we would a day off from work on June 14. So, I would just take the day off and call it Dump Day.
  3. If they are one issue climate change voters, then they think we are doomed either way.
  4. Or maybe they vote for nobody.
  5. Those of us who live in Chelmsford think Littleton is close and Boston is far away!
  6. I do not approve of this kind of protest.
  7. The question is which side we are going to be on.
  8. What if someone's view are so far left that they don't support either Democrats or Republicans? For example, there are a lot of people, especially young people, who believe that we are doomed if we don't make drastic changes to combat climate change. They think that no other issues matter and neither Democrats nor Republicans come close to addressing the issue sufficiently. Why should they "get in line" when there is no party to line up behind? Regardless of what MB thinks, the Democrats are not entitled to those votes. Everybody's vote is their own and no party is entitled to it.
  9. I have never understood why people (even reasonable ones) keep insisting that Trump is smart. At no point in his life has he ever demostrated any intellect whatsoever.
  10. Slotkin sounded very good and someone that could unite us. It will be interesting to see how MAGA shreds her.
  11. To be fair, Europe has been behind us in the rcovery from the 2020 economic crisis. They could be on a different cycle of the recovery.
  12. If Meadows and Vierling miss significant time, I don't think we'll be seeing much offensive pep when they head north.
  13. Trump, Musk, Stephen Miller
  14. To give the countries a chance to give in to his demands and allow him to openly humiliate them.
  15. No, I am not surprised.
  16. No doubt things are different now, but he made the Ohio comment in 2017.
  17. It got me for a second too, but then I realized it said ankleS and I could not see how he would have broken both of them.
  18. I think the tough part for me would be writing bullets for somebody who doesn't understand my tasks, the context of my tasks or how long it takes to do them.
  19. Some of us do care, but you are right that it's best to keep that discussion out of this particular thread. I mean If you are deep into the investment world, you are pretty much guaranteed to be investing in something somewhere that is unclean, immoral, unethical or against your ideology. We kind of have to ignore it in this thread.
  20. In a way, I was agreeing with you. I was saying that the book was not a white washing of Cobb's reputation.
  21. After reading Leershen's book, I still didn't get the feeling Cobb was a great guy. He was portrayed as less racist than previously though, but he did beat up a crippled fan and pushed an old woman down some stairs.
  22. One thing that Cobb never did (as far as we know) was have sex with a minor as a 30 something adult. Sadly, Rose's excuse was that sex with a 16-year old was legal in Ohio at the time. Recent players have been banned from the game for that sort of thing.
  23. He did get accused of gambling on games in 1919 though and they were credible accusations from another player. I wasn't sure whether 1776 was referring to that or his general character.
  24. It's just that one store that has lower prices for everything all the time. The quality is of food is fine. The employees are great. The downside is it's really crowded, but the total cost is at least 30% less than any other market in the area.
