I knew about it because the Tigers lost five players in the expansion draft: Dan Meyer Frank MacCormack Dennis Debarr Dave Lemancyck Bill Laxton I thought Meyer was going to be good, but he never developed. The only one that amounted to anything at all was Dave Lemancyck who have a couple of decent years and a bunch of bad ones. I remember reading in TSN that MacCormack had some kind of beef with Mark Fidrych. As soon as I saw that, I knew he was a loser. The first player picked in that draft was Ruppert Jones (from the Royals). He, of course, later became a member of the 1984 Tigers.

There is no way they use him in 1 and 4. They won't use him on three days rest because he's never done that before. Believe me, I miss the days of pitchers going on 3 days rest sometimes and pitching complete games, but it is a different game today. I actually think there are still pitchers today that could pitch more games, more innings, but those days are over.

That mostly takes the stench out of the late season collapse. Not totally because I care about the regular season and I wanted a division title, but they are now in pretty much the same position as they would have been without the collapse. This season will no longer be remembered by most fans as the biggest choke ever. So, now we can relax and enjoy the rest of the post-season!

My measure of a great season is the Tigers still being alive on my birthday.

I think they were in a position with the Skubal two-year window where that kind of move might have worked out well. With just one more year of Skubal, I thkink this off-season would be too late for such a move.

Everybody would be complaining about his strikeouts. Should have signed Bregman. He's exactly the kind of player Harris talks about all the time.

I think it's very unlikely that he signs with anyone before free agency. Boras's clients almost always become free agents.

He can't hit lefties, so Hinch took a calculated risk that Jones would get a hit in a key spot as a pinch hitter. It's the first time he's done that with Greene, but it wasn't a terrible idea.

I think if they trade him, it means that they don't think they'll be in the playoffs in 2026. So, it doesn't matter who gets him. Then he is going to be a free agent after they year regardless and in that case the Tigers won't have control over who gets him. The only thing they can control is keeping him through 2026 and hoping that he leads them to one World Championship.

I had an eye appointment during game 2 vs the Yankees in 2006. I caught Zumaya's famous inning, but had to go into the office in the 9th inning. I was in the waiting room with no cell phone and there was a delay. So, I got up and ran to my car and caught the last at bat on satellite radio. Then I ran back in the office just in time for my appointment. It's good they didn't check my blood pressure.

I missed most of the game because I had to teach. The class started with the scored tied 1-1 after four. I missed a great game apparently. Skubal and Greene come through when it counts.

My first fantasy team was called Schotts Stops. It was not my idea. A woman I knew was in a fantasy league at work and she asked me if I would draft the rest of her team for her in a keeper league. Karen's only rule was I could not trade Dennis Eckersley. I took over the team and was doing pretty well in the league but this was 1994, so you know how that turned out. By the way, if Karen knew what kind of person Schotts was, she would not have named the team after her. The next season I got my own team in Bill James Fantasy Baseball.

Even Kwan is not so good offensively. He doesn't strike out, but he had a .705 OPS. The Tigers had a far better offense most of the season. They need to get Greene, Torkelson and Carpenter back on track. The only area where the Indians are superior is the bullpen.
