  1. Replacing him with someone who communicates better might have helped a little and very small percents are all we need to potentially change an election result. I have been told that the system makes it really difficult to get different candidates even if they are bad ones, so I'm not suggesting it would have been easy or even practical.
  2. The way that the Torkelson pick can be spun as an incompetent move. Hindsight.
  3. He is a good GM, but the pattern is familiar - one of the highest payrolls in MLB and no dominant closer. The next step will be to gut the farm system. He does have great teams everywhere he goes though. He does what he is hired to do even if it might hurt after he leaves.
  4. What do you think of the Tarik Skubal draft pick?
  5. I don't usually pay much attention to the third wild card until late in the season, because it's kind of lame...but the Tigers are only one game out of the playoffs.
  6. Some of those players will fail and that will be Avila's fault. Some will succeed. That will be because of Harris. 😃
  7. It won't matter because a lot of his supporters probably think it's OK to rape your wife.
  8. Ted Williams also had a better year than DiMaggio, but DiMaggio won the MVP. Williams batted .406 in 1941 and won the Triple Crown in 1942 and didn't get the MVP either year.
  9. I don't blame either one or they can share the blame for not develping him. Harris's job now is to figure how much time to give him and then find a replacement if Tork can't figure it out. Neither one of those decisuons would involve Avila.
  10. As you have said before, who else should they have picked that year? Are you blaming Avila for choosing a consensus #1.
  11. Any time you see an American flag next to a name on twitter, you know it's an asshole. It's terrible how these creeps have tarnished our flag.
  12. They don't bore me like some past teams. They can be frustrating, but they have been in almost every game.
  13. It's not that I blame Harris. It's that I no longer think Avila is responsible. Avila was not a good GM, but he did leave Harris quite a few pieces with which to work. If he can't get it to work, that's on him. I am not really disappointed with their progress this year so far, but I want to see further progress with young hitters through the end of the year.
  14. Baez is really the only problematic piece left. Other than that, it's up to Harris going forward and it shouldn't take a few years like Buddah suggested. Harris has a chance to get them in contention by next year. If he doesn't make progress by then, it's on him, not Avila.
  15. It's already gone for the most part . Several of his acquisitions are contributing this season and Harris has a new system in place which hopefully will take them to a new level. I don't think they are that far away from contending.
  16. Maybe that comparison didn't help, but Gibson gave Anderson a lot of credit for helping him grow up which is something he needed. On another note, I talk about Whitaker and Trammell a lot. They were my favorites, but I thought Gibson was the most exciting Tiger of my lifetime. Watching him run the bases, hit for the power and seeing his reactions to things was really entertaining.
  17. And Carl Willis...the next Rollie Fingers. It is interesting that a lot of players he hyped stayed in the game after their playing days were over. Part of why he hyped them may have been that they had baseball smarts or were good leaders.
  18. Why are we so prone to violence? Is it the inequity?
  19. Anderson on Chris Pittaro: “He has a chance to be the greatest second baseman who ever lived.” I'd say he was more excited about Pittaro since he moved Whitaker to 3B to make room for Pittaro in spring training.
  20. “There’s nothing that Torey Lovullo can’t do”
  21. Oh, I expect managers to feed us BS, but disproving BS is one of my favorite things to do here.
  22. I won't be too surprised if they make noise in the AL Central, but it won't be because "they're gritty and get the job done with two outs". They are batting .238 with a .646 OPS with two outs. They will make noise in the AL Central if they continue to get good pitching and the hitters start producing with consistency.
  23. He'll be well compensated though.
  24. I added Wenceel Perez to my fantasy team last night which pretty much guarantees he'll start to suck. Don't worry though. I'll eventually drop him and he'll proceed to go on a tear. Just wanted to make sure you know what to expect for the next couple of weeks.
