  1. I like those shoes. I switch into my Hokas when I to teach because they are more comfortable for walking around. Dump makes such a big deal of trying to sound like a regular guy, yet constantly wears his stupid oversized suit everwhere.
  2. Yes, they have improved a lot, but there are still a lot of homeless veterans.
  3. If there is any meaningful pitching stat in Spring training, it would be walk rate. No matter what new things a pitcher is trying to do, too many walks is always a bad sign.
  4. Thousands of veterans are homeless. Many of them suffer PTSD from fighting in battles in order to make your life easier. Yes, I know there are some homeless who pretend to be veterans to get your sympathy, but many are real veterans too.
  5. Humans like to assume that people with tough lives deserve their fate. It would make then uncomfortable to think otherwise, because then they would have to accept that it could happen to them. It is very difficult to kick drug and alcohol habits and virtually impossible to "kick" mental health problems. There is a small percentage of scammers out there and they are usually easy to identify. People like that are disgusting, but the vast majority of people on the streets are in dire need of help. You see homeless people sleeping on the street with sores on their bodies in the middle of the winter. You think someone like that is going to drive home in a Mercedes?
  6. Wow, Hinch actually named a starter at one position? I was expecting something like "Colt is going play a lot of 2B, but you could also see him at 3B and we are working him out in LF this spring."
  7. If they do well, it will be because of Harris.
  8. I personally think Trump is crude, ignorant and shallow, but others sure do seem to be strongly attracted to him. So, I guess that makes him charasmatic.
  9. I am glad Manning wants to be really good! He could be, but he still needs to strike guys out during the regular season.
  10. I liked him. He seemed as if he was a friendly person and was very open (maybe too much). I also think he collected a number of good prospects and refused to trade any of them away and that is helping them now. Overall, he wasn't a very good GM though. I think Harris is going to be a lot better, but it's too early to know how good. His team having some real success at the MLB level would be a good start.
  11. Thanks for reminding me. I have been meaning to get it for a while. I just ordered it.
  12. You aren't turning anyone in the MAGA cult. You want to get the long-term Republicans, who still think Reagan is President and that they have to vote Republican no matter what. They won't vote for Biden, but they might not vote for Trump.
  13. That sounds like management speak. Not my thing. Probably correct, but impossible for me to know which ones are good at it.
  14. I agree. It's a matter of them hiring the right guys to make make those decisions.
  15. I think the former VP not endorsing the President should be a really big deal. Unfortunately, Pence is too boring for the media to make it one.
  16. I am surprised too. I expected a wishy washy non-committal answer.
  17. Just to be clear, I like Harris more than Avila and the next Tigers playoff team will be more Harris than Avila. I just think they glorification of Harris and dismissing of Avila by some fans is a little much.
  18. Maybe the Avila administration was able to see his innate talent and then the Harris administration knew how to take that talent and transform it. Then again, maybe he' s not that good and won't succeed in the majors. But that would be Avila's fault. 😃
  19. You are right that there a number of things they could do. What I am thinking though is whether there is enough talent available to benefit from further starter minimization. Theoretically, it might be ideal to have unlimited rosters with one fresh strong pitcher pitching each new inning - nine pitchers per game. But are there enough MLB caliber pitchers to make that work? There has to be a point of diminishing returns
  20. Are there enough MLB caliber pitchers available to take it further than it already has gone? it may have reached a point where diminishing returns will be the result, especially with plans for expansion.
  21. Dylan Cease to the Padres for three prospects. It looks like the White Sox got a decent haul, but I am really glad the Tigers are no longer in a position where they are trading established players for prospects. The team getting the established player wins that trade more often than not.
  22. Trump's psychopathic behavior has been normalized to the point of absurtity. He has been treated way too well.
