I think it will be Meadows going to Toledo when Carpenter returns. Sweeney is their back-up shortstop. McKinstry can play there, but shortstop is not his best position and he is their most frequent third baseman at the moment. Vierling, Perez and Greene would cover center field.

We all should have know that they Tigers were not as good as the one that played at a 100 win pace the first half. Weaknesses have been exposed and they are going through a slump. All the teams trying to catch them have been through this too. The Indians went through a 0-10 stretch, the Twins 3-15, the Royals went 1-9. The Tigers still have a 7-game lead and are still strong favorites to win the division over teams with similar warts. I hope they add some good pieces even if it's only relievers.

Right. Having followed the Tigers for 57 years, I've become accustomed to them rarely being in good position this late in the year. I like their organization better now than I have since the 80s, but there are still no guarantees. Even the 80s didn't turn out as good as I imagined at the time.
