  1. I once dropped a pop-up at a minor league game and I could hear the announcer in the near by booth mention it.
  2. Is he declining or was he unlucky last year? His hard hit% and exit velocity were still elite. Given his age, he may well be on the decline, but that might not be a safe assumption. https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/savant-player/matt-chapman-656305?stats=statcast-r-hitting-mlb
  3. One thing that might change things would be Congressional term limits. That way there would always be popular candidates still in their primes who wanted to go on to bigger things once their congressional days were over. I like term limits anyway, because I don't think political jobs should be forever.
  4. I know he would have won an open primary because they system would not have allowed a fair competition. However, if the model changed, I think it could work some time in the future after everyone was accustomed to it. It would take away the power from the parties though which is why it won't happen.
  5. Even though I disgree with what they are doing, it was a great post!
  6. I believe what you are saying is exactly what's happening politically. I don't like parties though and I don't like them making the decision for everyone. I just don't think discouraging choices is ever a good thing and I don't think what has happened in the past is a guarantee of future success. I do not think Biden is incompetent, but for some reason he is very unpopular. That tells me either people have soured on him or the only reason he won in 2020 is because Trump is so horrible. I hope it's the latter, but I fear it may be some combination of the two. I fear there are a lot of people who are disappointed in the direction of our country in general and they are going blame whomever is currently on the top. Some will forget how how horrible Trump was and just not vote.
  7. It seems like politics has changed an awful lot in recent years though. The lack of choices could change and it should change. I mean isn't an open primary what Democracy is about? Maybe like you said before things would get more interesting with ranked voting.
  8. It only weakens Biden if the primary protest voters sit out the general. I will definitely be voting for Biden in November. I voted for Sanders in the primary in 2016 and Clinton in the general. Neither vote was a mistake.
  9. Yes, Biden is the only choice in November.
  10. That's because the media needs him to win.
  11. Two recent polls - Trafalgar (Trump + 21) and Hill/Emerson (Trump +22) were pretty close.
  12. I know what I have read about him and I have heard him speak, same as any other new candidate. You automatically hate anybody who is not the establishment candidate and scold anyone who isn't with the establishment program. That has been your position ever since I started posting in this forum. Yes, I am they type of person who votes today and also in past electons. I have chosen not to spend a lot of my life worrying about politics because I don't have patience with all the bull****. I try to have a general idea of what's going on which is about the best you'll get from the majority of the population. It's all about money and power, but the things Democrats pretend to care about are more in line with my thinking than what Republicans pretend to care about, so I vote Democrat. Also, it takes very little knowledge or intelligence to know that Trump is a turd and a fraud and unfit for any leadership role.
  13. OK, I will. Thanks for the advice Cecil.
  14. Yes, that could be be a big problem too. I just don't know enough about international stuff to know how likely that is. Trump could be bluffing about the NATO talk, but I really don't trust him to do the right thing about anything. I want him out of the way.
  15. I don't think Trump getting elected is going to end our Democracy. I want him to lose because he is a horrible person and A horrible President. I want the Republicans to lose because they are bad for people who need help the most. If Trump wins and the Republicans win Congress, we will still have a Democracy, but there will massive cuts to programs that help poor, disabled, unhealthy and others who need help. That would pretty much guarantee that the Democrats will be back in power in 2029, but I prefer we don't go through all that. I don't see how my protest vote has any effect on whether Biden beats Trump, so I am not worried about that.
  16. You said he voted with Biden 100%, so doesn't that make him a young Joe Biden? 😀
  17. He still has to get by this year. 1 + 4 = 5. I understand that he is good at working with Congress and that is important. You guys are a bunch of policy and congress wonks so you love Biden, but probably less than 10% of Americans even notice. Being able to communicate with the public and having the confidence of the people is also an important quality of a President. His popularity rating is very low and I fear his lack of skills in that area could make him lose to Trump. Fortunately, the majority of people hate Trump too, so Biden still has a good chance.
  18. No thanks! I am not good at dealing with people, especially those with polical aspirations. By the way, a friend of mine did get involved this year. He is working on Phillip's campaign. 😃
  19. Maybe if enough people voted for an opponent, it might get the point across that people want more choices in the future. What would my vote for Biden accomplishe since he's going to win anyway? The argument that he's old is a legitimate one. If you look at Biden 10 years ago and Biden today, there is a huge difference. Everybody is different. Give him another five years and it will get worse. Elizabeth Warren is old too, but isn't showing it as much. Trump IS too old and, given his unhealthy life style, he is probably in more danger of a serious illness than Biden.
  20. Right, everybody who opposes Biden is an extremist.
  21. Biden IS old and he is a terrible communicator who will probably get worse over the next five years. He's an acceptable President and I will be voting for him in November without question, but I want to see better choices. I know Democrats are supposed to stay with the program and not even consider any other candidates, but I am not a Democrat and I am considering others.
  22. I mailed in my vote for Dean Phillips because I am disappointed with the options presented to us. I was going to get a Republican ballot and vote for Haley over Dump, but couldn't bring myself to vote for a racism enabler. Biden is not all bad, but he is too weak of a candidate to be running unopposed. So, Phillips is mostly a protest vote, although I'd probably vote for him if he was a serious contender as well.
  23. Yes, I have noticed they have gone the scrappy white guy route. I am not sure whether this is a league wide trend. It is possible that the Latin talent supply is waning a bit.
  24. DUMP IS THE BIGGEST TURD IN US HISTORY Playing with font.
