  1. I wasn't sure about this since Faedo was used mostly as a starter last year. However, it does make sense that Hinch wants both him and Brieske to be relievers.
  2. He'd be a good fit for most teams because he can hit and field. The question is whether a team wants to go out about 6 years on an infielder who will be 31 next year. My guess is the Tigers aren't going to take that kind of risk, at least not yet.
  3. Sure, they are legit prospects, but they aren't Riley Greene level prospects. Malloy, in particular, doesn't have a position. Jung is more highly regarded, but I've heard mixed reviews on his defense and readiness for the majors. If there was a good MLB third baseman available (there probably isn't) I wouldn't worry about blockng either one.
  4. But it's the perfect way to scare the MAGAs. The whole movement is based on this sort of thing.
  5. They now have 8 starters: Skubal Olson Maeda Flaherty Manning Mize Gipson-Long Faedo The could make a trade, but they'll probably need them all.
  6. Jack Flaherty has not been good since 2021, but he seems like someone they can work with.
  7. I trust that the team knows what they are doing with their budget a lot more than I do. If they have a high payroll, I assume that means they are going to maintain the high payroll in the future. If they sign Yamamoto (and I know there is little chance of that happening), I would assume that means they are going to be a high budget team which would be a good thing. I wouldn't assume that Harris was an idiot who made a stupid signing which is going to damage their future. Even if they sign a couple of Lorenzon level players to shorter contracts, I would take that as a sign that their budget is not tight. Again, I would view that as a positive.
  8. Yes, I'd rather they not cut payroll if I were a fan. I never root for my team to cut payroll.
  9. I am not sure that a writer seeing the Tigers as a good fit for a pitcher with a 5.27 FIP is progress. 😀
  10. So, McDonalds is the best restaurant in the United States.
  11. It's still subjective. Just because a form of entertainment is more popular does not make it better for all fans. I think the more popular a sport becomes the worse it gets for hardcore fans. Baseball becomes worse for me almost every time they do something to attract casual fans.
  12. I do too, but I still don't have any idea whether they will spend enough to sustain what the Braves are doing. I don't know that they won't either.
  13. The risk of having a high payroll is not the fan's problem. If a team commits to a high payroll ,long-term, that is a good thing for fans. If they go wild for a year or two and then cut back, that would be a problem, but that is not what fans are hoping fior.
  14. I don't want either scenario, but I'd probably take the Rays. Leaving the super wealthy teams out of it, I want the Tigers to be more like the Braves or Cardinals. That's hard to do, but I would hope that is who they emulate.
  15. I don't know. The Dodgers do more things right than any team in baseball and still have won a real World Series since 1988. I think it's a crap shoot.
  16. I would not want the Tigers to turn into the Rays. It would certainly be more entertaining than the last eight years, but it wuld be less enjoyable than a team that keeps its core together long term.
  17. Cabrera is going to play one more season. Best shape of his life.
  18. If that's the case, then just put all the teams in the playoffs. Just use the regular season for fantasy and gambling.
  19. I bet he laughs at his idiot followers every night.
