I think it's higly unlikely that any professional athlete would fake anxiety so they could take two years off. These are some the most competitive people in the world and it probably kills them to have to take any time off. Anything is possible I guess, but it seems pretty far fetched. I believe the Tigers would be happy for him if he recovered over the winter and was able to play again.
I think the biblical stories are fairy tales, but I believe that many religions promote love and kindness and other good things as fundamentals. The problem is that too many people exploit it and too many buy into their negative persuasions.
It's more humor than criticism. I think most people here realize that taking a shot at possible hidden gems is a good thing even if most of them don't amount to much.
Imanaga has an impressive K/BB ratio and seems very consistent from year to year. The only thing I don't like statistically is his high home rate. I have read that he has the obligatory "nasty stuff" and "good command" of every pitcher we have never seen before. It sounds like there is a lot of interest in him around the majors though, so I'll trust they know what they're doing if they can get him.
I don't think it's impossible that the Tigers get Yamamoto or another expensive player now or in the future. There seems to be a negativity about IIitch not really based on anything. His father wasn't a big spender initially either. He didn't start spending until they had the right management team in place and were getting close to contention. The son could be the same way. Detroit is not like Los Angeles or New York and never will be but that doesn't mean they won't make an occasional big signing.
He reportedly said that playing with Japanese teammates is more important than location. Of course, if that's the case, then Maeda might become a popular free agent for other teams as well as the Tigers.
Maybe not for a Japanese player. I would think playing in America with the best players in the world is the big attraction initially. Specifically making the playoffs might be less important until the get accustomed to our culture and the league. That's just a guess.
He has had plenty of chances to state his case and all he does is insult people, say incredibly stupid stuff and make goofy faces. Why are you pretending that he's a normal candidate who's going to suddenly talk seriously about issues? He's not. The only way to beat him is to have record numbers of people vote like in 2020. The onus is on Democrats to make that happen.
I admire your dedication and enthusiasm to politics, but Trump has been a high profile idiot and douche for 50 years. If poeople haven't figured that out by now, they never will.
All of them are "wrong" most of the time. It's the nature of the beast. I don't think Morosi simply speculates though. All he said was that the Tigers are very interested in Maeda. That doesn't mean they are going to get him as there could be a lot of teams very interested in him.
I have not been all that impressed with either Manning or Mize so far. Both could still be top of the rotation starters, but they haven't shown it yet and there is a good chance they won't. Skubal looks like a #1 if he stays healthy.
Yes, I think he would have won a second term if not for Covid. I think Trump's response to Covid was a disgrace, but I think any kind of response was going to anger a lot of people even with a more reasonable President.
That's the problem. Most people judge the president on how good the econony is when he's there which makes no sense. They can have some impact later, but how can you ever really know how much? Businesses and consumers do a lot of things that are not directly relsated to what politicians do.
