  1. The difference between his contract and other big contracts is the fans aren't going to get stuck watching him be useless at aages 35,36, 37. I hope there are more contracts like this in baseball.
  2. Tigers fans have this syndrome where they hate young first basemen Tony Clark Carlos Pena Spencer Torkelson
  3. They can contend in the Central Division. According to FanGraphs, these are the projected wins: Minnesota 83 Detroit 82 Kansas City 81 Cleveland 77 Chicago 63
  4. I don't know why they didn't appear to have interest in Chapman. He was my #1 target. Perhaps, it was easier to convince ownership to get involved this year after making the playoffs last year.
  5. I think signing him would have substatntially boosted their chances of making the playoffs the next couple of years.
  6. yay! Prison camps for young drug addicts
  7. I would also rather they develop hitters. Pitchers are fragile and thus it's difficult to build a foundation centering around pitching. There is always going to be a need for pitchers whereas I think you can build a position player foundation which lasts for a few years.
  8. I am glad the Tigers apparently made a solid offer to Bregman. It gives me hope that they won't be shy whe the right players are available. As for hitters not wanting to come to Detroit, the flip side is they were able to sign Flaherty probably because Deroit is is a favorable environment for pitchers for multiple reasons.
  9. I would assume that any pitcher they acquire by any means has a skill set with which they think they can work.
  10. Yes, there is that, but you coud say the same thing about a no name pitcher pulled off waivers. .
  11. I know he'll make it. That was just my way of saying that he doesn't really improve the roster if everyone is healthy.
  12. I prefer this kind of contract to long-term deals for 30-year olds. I hope there are more deals like this in the future.
  13. I believe they did offer him that. Otherwise, they wouldn't have been taken seriously. There was no way he was going to sign a short-term deal with the Tigers. It seems like he wants the chance to put up big numbers this year with the Red Sox and then go for a big 6-7 year deal nextyear. If not, then he still gets a damn good three-year deal.
  14. He has to make the team first. Is he better than Holton, Brieske, Foley, Vest, Kahnlee. Hurter, Guenther, Hanifee? Maybe, but those guys were pretty good last year. He does add some depth though which is crucial today.
  15. They got a good player for one, two or three years and don't have to deal with the likely decline in the his mid 30s. I would have been happy if he Tigers got him for that.
  16. Barring a trade, I don't think they'll have a regular third baseman. Vierling might get a lot at bats there, but I think there will be a lot juggling.
  17. There was room for both and the salary comparison is apples and oranges given where they are at in their careers It's done though. I wish it wasn't the Red Sox who got him. I hate seeing them get someone the Tigers wanted.
  18. If he's healthy, he's the back-up shortstop.
  19. A MAGA clown on facebook was telling me that Musk didn't care about money because he already has enough. He was just trying to fix our economy. They just don't get it.
  20. He gives up a ton of home runs, but maybe not as many pitching in Comerica. I don't know if he's better than their 8 best relievers, but they need depth. He's another decent arm.
  21. Cognitively impaired...But he's got that working man's Queen's accent that he has cultivated over the years. That makes everything he says believable to MAGA.
  22. I expect Cobb to have very limited innings given his history. I'm really glad they added Flaherty as there will be injuries.
  23. The guy who controls the government right now probably gets more funding that any individual in the coutntry. No conflict of inerest there. Right?
