  1. I don't think Obama had that much to do with it either. None of them really do. The average person seems to think that the president runs the country like a small busness and everything that happens is because of him. It's not like that at all and this is definitely not directed to anyone here.
  2. Given the absurdity of his opponent, I still think he could win if inflation makes a dramatic turn for the better in time for people to notice it. He is a weak candidate though regardless given his age and his poor communication skills. People here have pointed out that he has done some good things in terms of policy, but 90% of the country is never going to notice that stuff. It's all about perception. Today, at thankgiving a dinner, a relative was saying that Biden was terrible because of inflation and needs to go. He said that Trump was stupid but surrounds himself with really smart people and was great for the economy. I asked him to name a smart person around Trump. He admitted that he didn't know and just made that assumption based on how good the economy was. That's just an example of how perception is everything.
  3. I don't know. I am just concerned that voters are currently considering voting for a seriously mental ill person and criminal over the incumbent. That suggests a weak candidate to me.
  4. I was just looking at the real clear politics polls and they just keep getting more and more positive for Trump. I know it's really early, but Biden is looking like a ****ty candidate.
  5. As I pondered the idea of the Tigers signing Japanases pitchers, I realized that the Tigers rosters seems to have fewer minorities than any time in recent memory.
  6. Pitchers are really tough to project from year to year, but I agree Eno Sarris is better at it than most.
  7. His best years came when he was primarily a catcher, so I think he should get in. He's an interesting case though.
  8. This is my fear with the organization now. Even if they were to be good at it like the Rays, I wouldn't enjoy that approach. Part of the fun of following a team is having some core players that become part of the team's long-term identity.
  9. I think the Tigers need to try to build a contending team every off-season from now on. That doesn't mean they should sign players to stupid deals, but their goal should be to have a contending team every year. No more silly seven-year plans.
  10. I definitely think it helped. Offense generally benefits from expansion because it's harder to add a bunch of new pitchers than new hitters.
  11. as have stats from every year since around 1994!
  12. 2012 was more memorable, but Cabrera's 2013 season was even better than his 2012 season.
  13. 21 of them were 4 outs or more. 18 were 6 outs or more.
  14. He caught lightning in a bottle but for that one year you knew every time he came into close a game, the game was over. They have never had another reliever like that. They've had some guys who had a lot of saves, but you were sitting on the edge of your seat screaming at them in every appearance.
  15. When I was down at Lakeland watching an interview session from out in the hall of a hotel, I heard quite a few conversations and saw some funny stuff. Gary Pettis was going to be interviewed and he walked by us with a beautiful blonde on his arm. As Pettis was being interviewed Hernandez started chatting it up with his girl friend. Pettis saw what was going on and was visibly annoyed. Hernandez feigned innocence, gave a hands off gesture and smiled.
  16. And being a Yankees fan is almost as bad as being a Hamas supporter. Pretty close. 😀
  17. I almost became a Cardinals fan at the beginning and Lou Brock was my first favorite player. Horton was my first favorite Tiger.
  18. I am seeing reports on Twitter that both Willie Horton and Willie Hernandez died today. Very sad day. Edit: Horton did not die. Major screwup by Henning for which he has apologized.
  19. It's funny that he actually thought he had a chance with Cassidy Hutchinson.
  20. which is why I don't care. He is 31 and hurt all the time.
  21. I have no opinion on the Turnbull situation at all. How about that?
