  1. Is the New Republic credible? It seems pretty far left. If this is true though, it really pisses me off.
  2. Imagine thinking Donald Trump is going to clean up corruption and waste. LOL, his whole life has been corruption and waste.
  3. Do you still hate Putin or are you going to get with your team's program?
  4. I've ordered the tee shirt
  5. Wins and losses don't matter, but anybody who has big game is surely going to have a breakout season this year. Anybody who has a bad game sucks and needs to be DFAed immediately.
  6. I think he would depending on what happens with his team this year. I don't think GMs have the same emotional response to a player choosing another team that fans do. I don't think he believed that he was being used. If he did, he would have dropped out pretty quickly.
  7. Prsonally, I don't think he ever says anything funny, but many of his followers think he's hilarious. .
  8. Sure, it's a big deal but the media is going to focus on the king comment which is going to passed off as a joke. This is what he wants. He's doing the same thing he always does. He floods the media with new stuff every day and then everyone forgets what he did last week.
  9. I hope the media ignores this distraction. It will just make his detractors look petty. Let's stick to the real issues like letting Musk control all of the govt's finances and taking the side of an enemy in the war against an ally. Yeah, I know they won't. The media loves BS like this.
  10. Maeda was horrible last year, but I think there is a decent chance he contributes this year. I put him and Cobb in the same boat.
  11. They didn't "fail". It sounds like they made a good offer and he signed elsewhere. I do not believe it was true that the Tigers had no chance to sign him. I think if they went high enough like 7 years, he would have signed with them. But Harris had his limit and wouldn't go any higher. There is nothing wrong with that. If Bregman has a good year, I think he'll opt out and end up making more total money than the Tigers or Astros offered.
  12. It's probably not as bad as it sounds. Everything the Red Sox do has to be turned into a big drama by the media.
  13. Wow, I believe that is the first time he has ever stood up to Dump with dancing around the issue.
  14. Those are not mutually exclusive events.
  15. The only cut I'm going to celebrate is the one where Musk gives back all the billions in public funding he received.
  16. The Keith Laws hates the Tigers thing is so lame. He used to criticize the Tigers farm system because it sucked. Now, he says good things about it it because it's good.
  17. He does not have a computer. He sometimes uses a calculator.
  18. I use it occasionally. There is a data set of all the at bats in baseball history which I used to use a lot and the only way to update it was with DOS. I don't know if it still requires DOS.
  19. Right, I go l go all he way back to punch cards! The gains have been amazing. The one thing I have found in recent years though is data security (which I realize is an absolute necessity) is now preventing me from getting the most out of computers. It can be paralyzing at times and it will only get worse.
  20. That is good to know. I have not used that system, but I have seen the problem elsewhere especially in state systems.
  21. AI can probably solve it, but I am not so optimistic about AI. AI will only be as good as the people who design the algorithms. Ultimately, I think AI will be designed mostly for profit just like everything else. Whatever the wealthy want is the AI world we are going to get. Somtimes that will be a good thing, other times it won't be.
  22. You would think. Any data entry form containing year should always be 4 digits. Once it gets to the programmer, there is generally no way of knowing whether a two-digit year is in the 1900s or 2000's. The problem is when you have a massive database, the data are being entered at different places using different systems. I used to manage a database with substance abuse treatment admissions from about 20 different states. All states had the same variables, but each state had it's own way of formatting variables. Then when you finally get them on the same page, one of the states decides to do it differently the next year.
  23. It's still a problem in 2025. I still receive a lot of data sets with two-year dates in them and they can create a mess when birthdates and ages are involved.
  24. The key word being "reasonable".
  25. Don't you know that people who use pronouns are weak? I don't use pronouns and think they are unnecessary, but seeing the right freak out over them is amusing.
